Payton finally forced herself to wake up, she noticed that it was still light outside. With a groan, she pushed herself into a sitting position and ran her hand through her dark hair. That was another reason she hated long car trips, they exhausted her. She glanced around the room, remembering where she was. It really was a wonderful room. She knew that she would have to thank Daliah properly. Payton climbed out of the bed, wandering over to the window. She pulled back the white curtain, letting the early afternoon light filter into the room. The window itself gave her a wonderful view of the entire grounds. She could see the garden and the lake, even the small forest beyond the lake. She looked down at the garden, seeing a girl around her age admiring the flowers. She turned her head slightly, her heart stopping.
It couldn't be. That was absolutely impossible. Payton stepped closer the glass as if it would help her get a better view of the girl. Azalea? The girl started making her way towards the house and Payton watched her silently until she disappeared from view. With a grunt, she fell back onto her bed. It wasn't possible... But, what if it was? What if that really was Azalea? Her other half? Her soul sister. She had only been a little girl when they last saw each other, but anything was possible... Payton stood up quickly and practically raced over to the door. Her hand hovered over the handle. What if it was Azalea, but she didn't remember her?
The thought made Payton's heart clenched. The day she and Azalea had been separated, it was like a part of her was missing. It gave her the pain of losing a sister, but twenty billion times worse. After a moment of debate, Payton grabbed the cool brass knob, slowly turning it. It was worth the risk. If she could see Azalea one more time, she would be happy. She would be satisfied with her life. Payton breathed in deeply and stepped out into the hall. She stopped and looked down both sides of the hall. Her legs moved almost on their own will, guiding her into a room that looked like a living room. It was huge with a large couch and a chandelier above it. There was a television above the fireplace, but it was off and the fireplace unlit. Large windows looked out onto the property lighting the room with an almost eerie luminance.
Two people occupied the room. Azalea (or so Payton was almost positive of) and an oddly familiar boy. For a couple of moments, she simply listened to their conversation. She glanced at Azalea, knowing that it was her. How could it not be her soul sister. She stepped forward quietly, her feet making almost no sound on the floor. Her heart pounded in her chest, anticipation overcoming her rationality. She was never this excited, nor this anxious. It was almost an alien feeling to the dark haired girl. Azalea seemed flustered as she introduced herself. Payton almost grinned. It was her! It was her other half! Azalea seemed flustered, so Payton decided to intervene. "Azalea?" she called out softly.
