Minami waited for Jay to take her hand. She knew he would. He wanted out and she was the best choice. Minami felt triumphant in that moment, especially since her rival was Yuki. However, her confidence shattered when Jay slowly pulled back and responded to Yuki with a weak, "S-sorry . . . I'm . . . yea . . . we can talk if you need me to . . ." Minami watched his expression seemingly relax a fraction and fury ignited in her chest like a lump of burning coal. She chuckled, more for the sake of appearances and drew back her hand, letting it hang at her side.
She didn't completely know what to say after being rejected. No one had even rejected her sweet-natured advances. Not that they had been intentionally sweet. She looked to Gai instead, quelling the urge to grab Jay. She had found him first, he was hers to toy with. Yet, Minami knew that the attachment didn't stem from that, it stemmed from the fact that he reminded her of someone precious from the past. There were no soft feelings or attachment for Jay, just his appearance and manner of behavior. She brought that line of thought to an end as she spoke.
"Well then, I'll be taking my leave. I'll see you later Gai." Minami patted the man's hand in a goodbye gesture, a warm smile lingering on her face. She didn't dare touch his shoulders since she knew she would hate anyone touching her throat where the scar was or commenting on it. Minami briefly waved to the others and then departed.
The girl headed towards her room to be alone. Once she found herself behind closed doors she sighed heavily and flopped onto her bed with a soft thump. For once her thoughts were pacified into the dull murmur here and there and she rolled over onto her side. That situation had gotten out of hand. She had let her guard slip just because a man had flashed by her eyes. Not just any man⦠Her mind decided to remind her. She growled and closed her eyes, shutting out the light in her room. He's dead. That is the fact. I don't care if that scrawny little shit dies. What happened today, won't happen again. She protested inwardly. Her fury calmed bit by bit as she lay on the bed reviewing what happened. I may be able to control my feelings on what happened..but Saito is different. Of course I would react that way. That's why I was so interested in the twerp from the get-go. Yuki and Gai can have him. That's right. I don't need to be burdened by him. I have to survive and get out of this place. I have to..Her thoughts trailed off as she wondered what or who was waiting for her out there. People probably thought of her as a murderer and she didn't know where her family would be. They hadn't contacted her since she'd been in here. What if they think I'm dead? No. The promoter wouldn't do that..would he? She questioned before she tightened her fists in pain. I would be naive to believe the promoter wouldn't do something like that. She sighed and rolled onto her back and opened her eyes to stare at the ceiling, finding comfort in the neutral color. It doesn't matter. Out there is way better than in here. I'll destroy any one who gets in my way of that. Minami concluded, feeling better now that her morals were steady again.
Minami maneuvered into a sitting position and looked to the flat television on the wall. It was off since there wasn't any carnival corpse happening at the moment. When would the next one be?
