Neviah

Vi was woken from her sleep by being pushed slightly, or maybe she was just nudged, or even rolled over, but whatever it was, she woke up.

She woke with a start, facing a man wrapped fully in bandages. She didn't know what to do and found that her voice didn't work. She pushed herself as far as she could against the wall, trying to get away.

"Why are you bandaged?" Was the first thing out of her mouth as she didn't know what else to say. She as surprised that this was the first thing out of her mouth after a million other things had run through her head.

She looked to the opening of the alley, curious as to whether someone might come to her aid though people seemed inclined not to look in their direction for whatever reason. Vi watched the man carefully, he had weapons at his waist though she didn't see him inclined to use them as he stood over her.

She didn't feel comfortable around this man however, nor did she want to talk to him, nor anyone else here. The language was weird and she didn't like the way it rolled off her tongue and allowed air in when she could be talking below water more comfortably.

Neviah did wish that she was away, at home, or even just under water where she could be comfortable, but she had no idea where to go to get home, or even close to home. She was just happy that she had managed to avoid salt water since she had arrived here.

She knew what happened to others like her when they knew who, rather what she is. She would get sold, possibly as multiple things or even just a pet, or possibly, which was better, a gem meant for display. She hated it after having seen more than one of her friends or family members taken and killed, caught, or tortured. Some pirates even nailed mermaids to the bow of their ship in hopes of luck or even just to keep predators away, some predators believing that mermaids were just such a peaceful creature that those that interact with them must be peaceful too, even if their hands and fins are nailed into the boat.

"Any what do you want?" Vi snaps as she looks up at the man, no more so annoyed than anything else for whatever reason.
