The final bell marking the end of the school day rings and children come flooding out of the classrooms inside and out into the courtyard. Kathryn waits until all the buses have left with all the children in them and then she leaves the school. If she goes right, she would walk to the ghetto and left would take her to the main part of the city. She basically lived at the border between the 2 sections of the city. The shop was crowded with children buying sweets and chocolate instead of going on their buses. Kathryn crosses the road and decides where to go today. She could go to the ghetto for the first time, the city for the 6th time or into her house for like the billionth time. In the end, she walks into the house. She'd be teased in the main city and maybe killed at the ghetto. The shop was so crowded that it was definitely not an option. She closes the door behind her and turns back around to see her parent's bedroom door creak open. "Why does it always do that?!" she says to herself. Kathryn walks up the stairs to shut the door.
