His partner, who was a girl apparently named Kaya, was saying as Raudly gawked at the bright beam of light that had just shot upwards into the sky. What the hell had that been? Hopefully it didn't mean that anyone had managed to get themselves killed so early on in the game.
Raud noticed that Kaya had her hand out and hesitantly he shook it."Nice to meet you, too. I'm Raud." He said quickly, dropping his hand and rubbing it on his jeans. He really wished that there was hand sanitizer available somewhere. Maybe there was a Shibuya convenience store? Surely if there was a place were dead people could get their lives back, then adding in a few necessities couldn't have been too much trouble.
"Is this your first time playing? This is.. Eh.. My second." Kaya started to say, then the next thing Raud knew a completely different sentence was spewing out of her mouth. ". . . the small place. Though we should keep our guards up at all times. You never know what could be around the corner." Once again Raudly hadn't caught all of her words. Man did she talk a lot. It was hard to follow, with all the 'blah-blah thises' and the 'blah-blah-that's'. She seemed like she meant well enough, though. And they were already partners. The least Raud could do was give her and her jumble of words a shot.
"This is my first time playing. If all goes well, it'll also be my last." Raud sighed as he rocked back on his heels, eager to get the day started. If Kaya had played the game once, then she probably knew the whole outline of it, right? Maybe he was just making assumptions, but it felt like he was getting paired with the smart kid in math class here. "Totally sucks that you have to play through this again but... it's kind of like an advantage for us, am I right?" He asked hopefully, raising an eyebrow at the girl. Of course it was. How could it not be? He'd just sit back and let Kaya work through the days... yeah. That sounded easy.
Raud didn't even notice Kaya tapping at her phone, because by then he was too busy staring at his own.
Reach the CD shop in the AMX district, or face erasure. The text message read, and Raud guessed that that was the mission for the day. He had figured that it was going to be something more difficult, like finding a tiny object or fighting something, but this was perfect. How could anyone miss a CD shop, of all things? Still, getting there...
Raud turned to Kaya and showed her the message. She had said something about not getting service, hadn't she? He thought she had. "Ready to go?"
