Instinctively, Azalea's head snapped up as she overheard keys rattling the lock, and the door pushed open to reveal a ray of florescent light that eased its way into the room like the window of a cathedral. Then, in the room stepped a young man. He took a few short strides into the room; toward her. She hadn't said a word. She let fear overtake her once more and her heart beat so fast, she could hardly catch her breath as she scooted herself father away from the boy and the door itself as much as the corner allowed her. With each step he took closer to her, her heart thumped even louder within her chest , it felt like painful waves thrashing up against the walls of her chest. The silver rings around her blue eyes had gleamed more than normal.
At first he could see only shifting shadows, but they soon turned unto shapes of bodies- people bending over in the trunk, looking at him. And then, as if the lens of a camera had sharpened its focus, the faces cleared. They were all humans, all of them-some young, some older, different genders.
Someone, a rather bulky guy with long blonde hair, reached in and grabbed for the boy's ankle; dragging him out the trunk. At that moment, he kicked at the man, but the more he tried the more he was dragged out the car until he was thrown out. 'Welcome home, Greenie.' Was all the brawny guy had to say before the boy was squirming away on his hands and feet, sucking in breaths of air as he ran away at full speed. The soles of his boots patted hard against the dirt. His breath came gasping out into a wheeze, but he dared not slow down. He wondered why his ability hadn't kicked in by now. What did these people do to me? He could only ponder at the thought. 'We got a runner!' He heard someone shout from behind him. His legs were working smoothly; mechanically, moving him away from his kidnappers until he tripped over his own two feet and came tumbling down.
He was at least a good twenty feet away; crawling back on his feet until someone yanked him up by his shirt. 'Phew, good runnin' you had there Greenie? Best not do that again. Could've blown your brains out with this here rifle.' And off the man went; dragging the boy with him back to where he'd came.
