. "Shh, it's okay. I'm here, I won't let anyone touch you," Damien whispered and she looked at him. She wanted to believe him but it wasn't true. He would try. That she knew for sure. "I promise I won't leave you behind," He said and she nodded.
After a quiet moment, His memories were all but gone, they were in her memory sure but they weren't flooding her mind, and making her head hurt, they were calm.
"Kalila, listen, we need to go to a port where we can work, would you possibly want to visit one of Jeddah's colonies?" He said and her eyes went wide as she looked at him. "We're running low on money and our closest safe is too far away,"
He was a pirate, the only work he could do would be to raid, he couldn't raid one of her mother's ships, if he did, then....
Her vision. It would come true. She would be shot once they went on a raid. Would she die? She didn't know.
Damien then placed the writing pad and charcoal in her hand and she looked at it. For some reason she didn't know how to tell him, that he would try to save her but fail. She looked at him and her breathing picked up again.
Shakingly, she wrote on the pad. "I want to go with you."
Resigning to her fate.
