Macie said, looking to each of them with a warm grin While she had a beautiful smile, he couldn't help but think about how she must have felt. Donald didn't have any kids. He didn't even have any younger nieces or nephews, but if he did he couldn't imagine what it must be like to be separated from one of them like that. What he could think of however was the possible ways that she and the others ended up in the Middle. Sure, some people didn't remember offing themselves, but they were never this insulted or, in the case of the guy Sam was helping, insulting about the idea.

It was then that Donnie looked back to check on Macie, who was by herself as Cass had no doubt walked off and Emery was helping the other two new arrivals. Tying his jacket around his waist, he approached Macie with a confident stride. "I could help you find your hut if you're ready." he said gesturing into the thick jungle near them. "...and don't take what Cassidy said personally. She's not as open as some of us."
