Edmund sat alone in the walled in area of the balcony over the main entrance. As he sat a small bird sat on the railing about ten feet from Edmund's hands. The bird began to sing a happy little song, however it's song was cut short by a guard slamming the doors open to where Edmund was hiding out.
"My Lord Edmund, she's here." The guard told Edmund, before the guard could finish Edmund snatched the bouquet of tiger lilies of off the end table and ran out the door. His head was swimming with emotion as he jumped over the last ten steps in the grand foyer, he landed a bit harder than he had thought but he quickly righted himself and brushed his hair out of his eyes with his fingers.
He shoved open the oranate marble doors and there she was standing, and she was beautiful.
"Romona!" Edmund called out kindly as he smiled at her, his heart was racing as he took a few steps towards her. He reminded himself, act calm, take normal steps, don't run. As he got within five feet of the girl he held out the bouquet carefully.
"Take these flowers, do they remind you of the day in spring by the stream? That was my favorite day and I have cherished that memory until even now today." Edmund smiled warmly and took in her loveliness for a moment.
"Come, I shall take you to your quarters Romona." Edmund said offering her his elbow.
