If Lex had been only chuckling at Cliff being in trouble with Alexandra, he laughed upon seeing the sheepish smile on his friend's face. The idiot was just so oblivious, it was actually kinda sad, for both Lexi and Cliff. "Sure thing. And hell, I want a bite to eat from my mom every day," he replied with a shared grin. Alexander would tell anyone any day that he was appreciative of his mother's cooking. Again, she had taught him and he was much more accomplished than most (if not all) of the elite kids he knew, but as it has been said before, nothing is ever like your mother's cooking.

At the actual exuberant and impressed expression on Cliff's face, another chuckle escaped Lex - one that tried to cover the underlying anxiety. He understood that it was great to have scouts from big schools calling your phone and wanting interviews. If Lex were any other guy, he would probably be much more excited about it. After all, Vanderbilt was looking at him - him, some nobody with nowhere near the same social skills or economic statuses as the majority of his classmates. And he owed it all to St. Jude's, seriously. His mother found his thoughts self-deprecating in a way, since Lex was refusing to acknowledge that not just anyone gets a sports scholarship - that he would have had to work for it. And he did. Countless summers spent with his cousins and constantly training left him at the top of his sport. He had been conditioned for it. Which was probably why he wasn't enthused about it and why he was more than grateful when the assembly began. He still didn't know how to explain to one of his best friends that he wasn't really looking to go to school and play sports.

In the midst of leaving, after the assembly, Lex nodded to Cliff. He smiled at a few girls he remembered from last year and offered them a small wink of acknowledgement as they passed. Back to Cliff, he said, "Please, I'd die of boredom if I go home or wind up playing video games all day. Let's go." He thought about it for a second and smiled, reminiscing. "Matter of fact, I want some of their ganache."
