It was around six thirty in the morning and she had her head dangling off the bed flipping through the channels trying to do her best to drown out the annoying click. Ruby managed to get around five sporadic hours of sleep in total due to the annoyance. She was halfway through a show about kangaroos when the television went static. “No.” She rolled to her stomach dropping the remote to the floor.
Sliding off the bed she opened up the curtains letting in the sun. She was on the second floor and looking down spotted the pool and for a moment was debating whether or not she wanted to go for a swim but quickly pushed the thought away when her stomach growled. “Room service it is.” She wasn’t in the mood to leave her room and grabbed the menu from table side desk and plopped on the bed with a huff hardly noticing the television change from the static screen to an outside picture of the resort. Placing the phone to her head there was no dial tone. After clicking a combination of buttons there was still no sound. Frustrated she slammed down the phone and left her room. It was less than pleasant.
It was dark and there were absolutely no lights except if you count the light from the windows at the end of the halls. For a moment Ruby thought about returning back to the room but her stomach had other thoughts. Halfway down the hall she froze as three sirens went off forcing her hands to her ears. “What. The. Fuck.”
