Mornings are always a joy for Wren, it started with a huge stack of pancakes which she had made all by herself, this was an accomplishment only because she wasn't used to her own just yet. It was familiar like an old dream but things had been moved around so it took a bit longer to find everything she needed. But once she had finished a stack of six pancakes sat in front of her which she divided up onto two plates, the first she lathered up with enough syrup to kill a diabetic. When she had finished she left the other three pancakes and the syrup on the table awaiting to be eaten by the other person in the house, hopefully they would be gone by the time she got home but most likely not. Wren had made a different meal everyday since she had arrived back home only to find that they had never been eaten her mother hiding behind the locked door of her room.
Wren checked the time and to her surprised realized that she was going to be late for her first day of school, jumped up grabbing her backpack and ran out the door in her energetic way bouncing down the sidewalk as she made her way to school. The first day of a new school was always the hardest as finding her classes and figuring out what to do about catching up with everyone else's school work. But fitting in was her strong suit for this school she had to wear a uniform. blegh.. It was boring with red and black colors that didn't suit her style at all, but fortunately Wren had found a loop hole in the system. The uniform didn't come with a tie so she decided that she would accessorize with her very own collection of bow ties.
Her collection was quite large however and she couldn't decide which one she wanted to wear so she filled up her backpack to the brim with her bow ties and planned to put on whichever one she was feeling like at the time. All was going as planned until someone saw her open her bag with the dozens of ties and asked if he could borrow one, Wren replied by giving her biggest goofiest grin and nodding vigorously. The boy chose one, and gave her his own tie before walking off, but that wasn't the end of it, word soon got around that there was someone dealing bow ties and she got people running up to her asking if she was the tie dealer. To which she replied the same as with the first boy then they would proceed to choose one of her ties giving them their own, now her bag was full of dark plain looking ties and she could walk five feet without seeing a brightly colored bow tie.
There were ones that lit up, ones that could spin, others that were neon, and more still that just had silly patterns, Wren choose a simple one, blue with smaller bow ties that acted as polka dots. It was small but it made wearing a monkey suit all the more better, and the school day went on without a hitch she went around to all her classes introducing herself as the new girl and even made some new friends got invited to several parties and exchanged numbers with about a dozen people. There wasn't a shy bone in her body and it showed.
Finally it was fourth period and she got to sit at the back of the class her favorite place to be, it allowed her to see the entire class without a problem and she looked up every ten seconds to smile at the fact that she could see several brightly colored bow ties in this classroom alone. But her happiness was interrupted when she looked up for the hundredth time only to feel a shudder go through the room as an explosion came from somewhere in another part of the school. Wren nearly jumped out of her seat but instead tried to stand up only to topple backwards in her chair. How embarrassing.
