Dani

Dani eventually phased into sleep. Her head was filled with nightmarish images. At one point, she saw herself with pitch black eyes and skin. White flooring appeared in front of her to reveal the blood dripping around her. She was walking and she couldn't control where she was going. Her arm reached out and slashed the throat of a teenage boy. Another watched in fear, but she did not attack him. Then appeared the figures of her family members. Their bodies lay limp on white flooring all around her.

Dani sprang up in her bed with her eyes wide open. She remained in a sitting position as she looked around her room. Everything appeared as it should. It was a stupid nightmare. Though she knew it was only a nightmare, she forced herself to check the bedrooms of her sleeping parents and siblings. Everyone was still alive. Fully reassured that everything was okay, she walked back to her room.

I don't think I can sleep anymore. Dani looked around her room. It felt small. She took in a deep breath and then let it out. I think... I think I'm going to go on a walk. She turned back around and crept down the stairs to the back door. The front door made a little bit of noise when it opened and it was too close to her parents' bedroom. She opened the door slowly and carefully and then slipped outside.

Outside, the air was cold. Dani's heart beat a little harder. I just snuck out. Her dogs approached her excitedly. The German Shepherd made little whimpering noises. "Shut up, or you'll get me in trouble." she whispered. To keep them quiet, she pet their heads and made them sit as often as she could get them to. They were eager to follow her all the way to the back wooden gate. Either side of the wooden gate was brick wall. She hopped onto a garbage can and then onto a portion of the wall and then over it. I didn't think it would be so easy. She looked around. Where do I go?
