The entire duration of him winding the key, there was a silence in the room. Even the spaced music box notes seemed to come to a halt, as if waiting for the awakening of the humanoid machine being wound up. Only the clicks of the key turning made a sound, spare his breath as he worked at the key. The blank grey of the bot's eyes just stared into the store's intruder without intent, without presence. Yet as his hand touched upon her cheek, they closed and her head dropped suddenly. With no warning, a blue light emitted from her chest's core that grew brighter and brighter with no signs of relent. Her arms shook with a mechanical spasm that nearly knocked him upside the head before the bot fell back against the counter again, limp as the light faded away into the nothing that would leave the store dark once more. Again, silence returned to the room whose dust had been blown around in the air from the light emitted from the machine.

A solid minute passed before she finally moved. An action as simple as lifting her head, opening her eyes to reveal two rings of differently shaded blue. The outermost ring most reflected the light shone from her activation, bright and almost having a sense of life behind it. The machine blinked twice, slowly, before turning her head to scan the area. "Location: Unknown. Time: Unknown. Location of Father: Unknown. Beginning assessment of area." The tone was flat, as to be expected of a robot. Rising to her feet, she began moving around the store, studying everything she saw with great detail. She seemed to pay the thief no mind as she did so. Before too long, she stopped moving and spoke once more. "Assessment complete. Location: Reveck Gadgets and Gizmos. Store of father. Time: Unclear, signs of, decay. Estimated lapse in time, deactivation possible. Location of Father: Unknown." It seemed that as she stated the location of a "father" was unknown, the tone in her voice dropped the slightest bit.

Only after the store was surveyed did she direct any word at the thief. Approaching him with a gaze so curious that it was clearly written on her face, she peered into his eyes. She stared in silence for a while, an intense look in her own eyes as she tried to analyze him. "Identity: Unknown. Threat Level: Minimum to none." Her head cocked slightly to the side as she drew closer, her face a mere couple of inches from his as she kept her eyes locked on his. "Potential thief. May know, about Father's disappearance." Reaching her white-draped hand up to his face, she felt out the jawline, using her thumbs to touch upon his other facial features. This did not last too long as she dropped her arms to her sides and stepped back. "Face memorized. Height memorized. Inpu-" The robot cut herself off as something else drew her attention. The door to the back room was opened. This seemed to trouble the robot as she pushed the man aside and stepped behind the counter. Two mice rushed past her feet in fear as she peered behind the doorway. She did not enter, but merely stared down at the rather gruesome sight before her. "Father is, sleeping? Analyzing." Stepping inside, she crouched beside the body of her creator. Once again, her head cocked to the side. "Father is not sleeping. Chest does not rise or fall. There also appears to be, a leak." Her white-tipped fingers dropped to the floor to touch across a darkened stain. "The leak, is old. Sensors indicate that repairs, may be needed." The mechanical woman rose to a stand once more, returning to the store front. Looking back at the man who wound her key back up, she asked plainly, "Father is, broken. His chest will not rise. Or fall. He does not blink. Nor does he, smile when I am near." Opening a draw and sifting around in it, she eventually pulled out a saw made for cutting through solid steel. "We must, repair. How does one, repair a, human? I do not, know what parts to use. Where can I obtain, parts?"

To a human, it would be plain as day that her "father" was dead, no longer amongst the living. It was clear now that this robot had no understanding of the concept of death. No data collected of how humans function, or their differences between machines like her. The man had been dead for a couple of months, if not more. Not even a priest of a high caliber could bring him back now, only barely recognizable as the man once known as Rorek Reveck.
