Trent chuckled at Nadia’s words and the challenge present in everything. “I’m looking forward to it especially since you’re such a people’s person,” he commented. She acted robotic, like emotions weren’t allowed most the time but he knew different. He just liked to joke about the famous "bitch" they all knew and loved. He’d imagine the speech to be similar to that of preparing for war, minus James’ particular emotional passion demonstrated before. Then again, Nadia could be full of surprises so he was genuinely looking forward to her warm up speech that would ‘leave his in the dust’. Still it wouldn’t be too soppy.
“I thought I did quite good last year,” he added with furrowed brows trying to reflect on the speech he made. It was uplifting but relevant; discussing the good of Dauntless and how rewarding it is to be a part of Dauntless but that it takes some work. Perhaps that was his error though as he should have substituted “some work” for “a lot”. Dauntless was all about overcoming physical and mental challenges that caused more than a few break downs last year. They pushed many limits for initiates to overcome and obviously that didn't have a happy ending for everyone.
Trent couldn’t be stationary much longer, especially while the provoking thoughts ran on in his mind. But he covered it by pretending to grow impatient waiting for initiates as he rose to his feet. “As long as it’s you giving the speech and not James.” He pat her shoulder and shuffled between the isles to head to the adventurous room where the activity and training and epic speech would be.
He whistled to round James up so the trainers could all get a proper look of what they were working with this year, and pointed to where he was heading. The training area where perspectives changed. To those whose eyes he caught, he gave them a little wave over.
