It did surprise her when Alexa eventually did speak up. It wasn't a surprising statement, not one that would wipe the smile off of Colette's face. She wasn't happy about what Alexa said, mainly because the way Shay had told the story, the sisters' interaction did not occur as such. However, she wasn't going to tell Alexa she was wrong, especially if she actually felt comfortable enough to talk to Colette. That mindset enabled her to understand Lex's viewpoint, and Colette sipped her mimosa, already wanting something stronger. This summer was turning out more nerve-wracking and drama-filled than she needed, she surmised. It was probably because of this thinking that prompted her to say what she said next. When Lex turned the question on her, Colette didn't filter herself like she would have wanted. Like Ariana would have, smile in place and all. Oh, the smile was there, but instead of some possibly genuine concern, there was, "She already did."
To which she reacted almost immediately. Colette regretted the words the second they dripped from her mouth and scrambled to correct herself, eyes wide and guilty. "W-wait...I did not just say that and you did not just hear that." That was stupid and Lex wasn't stupid, so Colette hurried to move past her verbal fuck up. Instead, she addressed Lex's first statement by saying, all while refusing to meet Alexa's gaze, "For the record, Shay hasn't slept with Carson. She stayed over there because your psycho brother went ape shit crazy on her and I didn't think it would be best if she was here with him. At least when I thought he was going to still be here." For only this moment, Colette honestly wished her sister would just randomly appear. Use that condescending tone, make a remark about her outfit - she didn't care. If only to dispel the air she had placed around herself and the second to the last person she should have admitted that to.
