If it had been a case of simple thefts or some such, she would certainly have suspected the mayor based off of the preacher's description. Political ambition was a terrible vice, as could easily be seen in the East. Yet it meant little on the frontier, even if Chesterfield could find a position in a larger town, it was not as if any settlement other than New Life was that much more impressive. And more importantly, there was no reasonable ties between politics and the missing children. And that was the issue at hand. It seemed impossible to find any logical reasoning behind the sheer scale and reach of the atrocities.
