Umi sat up and rubbed her eyes, looking at the clock to find that it was already five in the evening. She still had two hours before she had to be at the Matchmaker's Association, at seven, in order to be paired with another person and sent off to live with that person at a beach for a whole month. It was the beach she was most excited about. The sea was her favorite place, and her favorite thing about the trip.
Umi made her way home and finished the last of her packing, changing from her uniform into a light pink and blue sweater dress. Her parents had insisted on driving her there, and after a small dinner they hopped into the car and started on the way to the M.A. Headquarters. Umi's brother had even come from school to see her off.
As they parked in front of the building, Umi suddenly felt a twinge of nervousness swimming around in her stomach. What if there isn't someone out there for me? An encouraging thumbs up from her brother made the feeling fade away, and a determined Umi walked into the building and up to the reception desk.
"Um, I'm here for the Macthmaker's Program?"
The woman behind the desk asked for her name, and typed away on her computer when Umi gave it, then led her into another room, only one other person there.

"Uh...downtown, apparently. Google Maps said the building is near that one playground kids always flock to." Hitoshi frowned at the card in his hand. It didn't even have their actual address on it, just the company name and a bunch of hearts. He wondered how anyone even found the place without getting completely lost.
At least he was out of the suit and tie, which was one of the few good things about this particular moment in time. And Mikaze would be going with him as well, so it wouldn't be all bad, right? Hitoshi still wasn't too excited about the ordeal.
Stepping out of the locker room, Hitoshi noticed that they were the only ones out there, probably because everyone else was still in the auditorium watching the rest of the show. He never really liked sticking around to watch the other competitors when he could be doing more important stuff with his time, like sleeping.
---
The building was tiny. So much tinier than he'd expected, it was small and made of the same, boring material as every other building in Tokyo. "This is so not what I was expecting..." Hitoshi groaned and looked up at his friend, smirking. "Maybe they'll be so bad we have to come right home or something~"
Inside, the woman at the reception desk practically dragged them into another room, where the other two participants had apparently been waiting for them.
