Lane and Erin walk in step down to the bench where Aimee and Carr sit quietly. The closer they get the more Lane starts to realize she doesn't have anything planned out for what she will say to Aimee, her heart beat quickens and she makes a second worths of eye contact with the girl sitting before her. The two don't speak right away upon seeing each other. Instead they exchange awkward looks and Aimee seems to avoid looking at both girls.
Erin instantly engages in conversation with Carr, unaware of the tension between the other girls. She'd never been to keen on picking up signals and for that Lane was grateful. Lane never quite understood what Erin saw in Carr. To Lane he was young and stand-of-ish, usually very quiet. He had powers though, which she knew only a bit about from Erin's mentions. Carr and Lane were extremely mutual to each other, and only exchanged words when Erin was there as well, similar to this moment now. Carr stands up, he turns to Lane trying to explain he wants to dance with Erin. Each sentence he spouts it cut off by the next and he mumbles his words. Lane opens her mouth to protest but nothing comes out. With that Carr whisks Erin away leaving before anything else can be said and Aimee and Lane are left alone. She probably would have been more upset Carr stole her date if it hadn't been that Aimee was the one she was left with. All Lane's attention it turned to Aimee now.
"Hi." Lane spoke letting out her breath, which she didn't realize she'd been holding quite a while. She sits down on the bench next to Aimee, keeping about a foot and a halves distance. "How are you? I mean like tonight....not about us.... Are you hungry? What do you need? We don't have to talk about anything if you don't want too..." Lane pauses and presses her hands again her thighs. "I want too..." She adds quietly looking into Aimee's soft green eyes. Lane bites her lip during the silence that follows. Her heart pounds in her chest wondering how long it will take for Aimee and her to at least be friends again.
