She wasn't in the room when it happened. Rather, because Evie (Evelyn Raynor, to be exact) had decided that today was the day she needed to be squeamish about knowing that Katherine pulled the trigger, she had stayed perched in her 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari. With said blonde sitting in the passenger seat, mouthing away on the phone at a mutual companion about the Montane party. While Evie was trying to convince the person on the other line to attend the event, Katherine sat with eyes dead set on the hospice they were about a block away from. It was a good enough distance to see her man leave the facility, and enough to not make her look suspicious. Plus, considering the fact that it was getting dark and the windows to her luxurious vehicle were tinted, nobody could tell the difference. But she could and that was all that mattered.

When the body dropped and it had gotten back to her family that it had been one of theirs (not a gangster, but an ally in the town), her father had suspected that either she or Lukas hadn't had their eyes open. They either had a traitor in their midst or somebody was fucking with the wrong family. Katherine had long since decided upon the latter, but Lukas was quick to point out the fact that Katherine had far too many names on the list for people who could and would betray her trust. Not that he knew which ones were which, but it gave her the excuse to finally pull the plug on a member who had long since stopped being useful. In fact, the paraplegic had been a fine tech analyst some two years back, but Katherine's suspicious had been confirmed that he had been leaking invaluable information to the Montane's. Which meant he needed to be cut and quickly.

"Seriously? You're just gonna have us sit here and brood out a window!? It's Halloween, Kat. Let's go crash the Montane party." Her longtime companion pouted, causing Katherine to roll her eyes while fighting a small grin. Pretending to inspect her nails in a bored fashion, Katherine replied dully, "You're asking me to crash the party of the same family I've already got bad blood with. Not exactly smart, Evie." The blonde snorted. "Don't think that stopped you from egging their venue for their Valentine's Day event." The reminder caused Katherine to chuckle. It was one of her less savory attempts at messing with the Montane's, mostly because she knew they wouldn't do anything foolish over something harmless. Plus, most saw it as a prank by a few jocks at one of the high schools or a dare for some of the nearby college students who were pledging. The Alphas were infamous for making their boys do foolish things. Either way, the entertainment value was always something to look back on.

Still rather bored with the conversation, or not so bored as she was distracted, Katherine inquired, "And what would ever make me want to go to a Montane party? If I wanted actual class, I could have thrown my own event and made one hell of a revenue." Evie rolled her eyes and punched Katherine's arm lightly. "Rudeness!" Katherine's only answer was the twitch at the corner of her mouth, signaling an oncoming smile. From the corner of her sharp eye, she noticed movement and finally saw Ricardo leaving the building. He didn't look in her direction at first, steps firm and robotic almost. However, blue eyes behind dark shades turned in her direction and all it took was one nod to let Katherine know that the job was done, and the sigh she expelled was far too heavy for a woman who had played the Grimm Reaper one too many times before. And despite knowing that Ricardo had been the one to put the pillow over the man's face, Katherine could still feel the life of another man draining out of his body from her own fingertips.

"You know what?" She began and revved the beautiful car up, loving the comfort of the vehicle's smooth purr. However, despite the playfulness in her voice, her face was rather blank. Unfeeling, numb. She turned to Evie a stony stare combined with a smile that was far less mischievous than her signature. "We're gonna get some masks and crash a party." She knew her friend could see more, that she wasn't into it, but a drink or two followed by a distraction in the arms of whoever caught her attention for the evening would be enough to make Katherine forget. Besides, dressing up was a good distraction. She was used to putting on shows anyway. She did it for a living.

Sebastian might have been just a bit irritable by the time he arrived to the airport.

A man who had made it his life mission to be punctual for most events and situations, he was not privy to experiencing flight delays. He had never had a delay in his entire life. It probably had something to do with his father's own military involvement and how punctuality was his one good quality, but thinking about the old man did nothing but bring a dark scowl on Sebastian's face. Back to the point - he was not a happy camper learning that he had to wait for an hour and a half for his flight to leave. To make matters worse, a blonde woman in her forties - in the company of her two teen children, he presumed - decided that Sebastian was just enough eye candy to start hitting on him. The fact that he hadn't even fled to find a liquor cabinet or seedy bar somewhere was all at once shocking.

And emotionally draining.

His phone buzzed had buzzed some moments prior, a text message from his "partner." Sebastian didn't typically have a problem with partners. It was strictly professional, to begin with. He had worked with far too many different people to have an issue with working with someone on a case of a town he was not, in any way, familiar with. oh, he had heard about North Point. His father was friends with some rich tycoon, a Lovell - he honestly couldn't be sure. It had been so many years ago since he had last cared about his father's "business" ventures. What he had been able to squeeze out of his memory and from the supporting evidence (more like rumors people he had asked about the town informed him of) was that the town had their own Shakespearean drama unfolding. It wouldn't have even entertained him as much had his sister not just pranced around with quotes from her new favorite romance, Romeo + Juliet. He didn't care for the reading, just the relevance: two warring households and a whole lot of bloodshed.

What made it worse was the surprise dead body. Murder was not an unfamiliar occurrence in the town, he had been told over the phone, but this was different. Each family treated their victim's corpses in such a way that made it evident which side did it, but no one would ever be able to trace it back to a particular person. There was a signature to each killing, a marking, something left behind - something that, in some tiny way, connected one or the other family to the murder. At the current time, there was nothing for them to kill over. There were no current beefs between the families. To make matters worse, both of their signatures had been on the corpse. Which was why Sebastian had been called.

"Pardon me for a moment, ma'am," he said lowly to the woman beside him, trying his hardest to maintain the charming smile that had her nodding dumbly with a small playing at the left corner of her mouth. Cringing inwardly, Sebastian exchanged an unimpressed look with one of her children before heading over to one of the nearby attendants. "I'm sorry, but is there any that the plane could get here faster? I know you said you had lost the plane...?" The last time he had heard something that absurd had been the Malaysian flight incident and that was enough to have Sebastian fearful of being drawn back to the line of offense. However, the woman's smile brightened.

"Actually, we found it. Somehow, it landed on the other side of the airport. it's currently riding around, so you guys should be leaving in the next thirty minutes. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and hope you continue to fly with us on Delta Airlines." Sebastian didn't offer a response to that, but he did nod and continue back to his seat. Whipping out his phone to text his partner.
