Abbie beamed as she saw Jason come in. His friends were hanging around by the door, so it made sense that he'd greet them first. He attacked one of them- Callum, wasn't it?- in a bear hug from behind, before talking to them briefly. She was about to wave to catch his attention, but then he spotted her and made his way over. In response to him asking if she'd been here long, she shook her head. "No, I've only been here about fifteen minutes," she said, leaning into him. That was a lie- it was probably closer to half an hour, if not more. But he didn't need to know that.
"How was your day?" She asked, looking up at him. Maybe he'd explain why he was late. Not that she minded, but she wanted to curious to know why he'd been so late. It was happening more and more lately, and she was just hoping that everything was okay at home. Then again, maybe he'd always been turning up this late and she was only picking up on it now. That was a possibility too.
Callum could hear Charlie yelling his name from across the room, even over the blaring music. His friend ploughed through the crowd, accumulating more than a few glares. Then again, Charlie never did really care. "Tell me you brought something to drink," Charlie said by way of greeting. It was only then that he remembered that he had planned on bringing something, but after everything that had happened, he'd had other things on his mind. "Shit, man, sorry. I had an argument with the old man before coming out so it completely slipped my mind," he said. It wasn't exactly a lie.
Without any warning, something attacked him from behind. He's found out he's found out he'd going to kill me he's going to- He only snapped out of it as Jason yelled his and Charlie's names joyfully. Callum straightened up. "Jesus Christ, man, don't do that again. You nearly gave me a heart attack," he said. Maybe that was exaggerating, but a panic attack hadn't been too far off. Jason disappeared again in search of his girlfriend, and Callum snuck in a deep breath as Reagan appeared, followed by Alissa with a bottle in a paper bag. He was fine. His father hadn't found out. He was fine.
