She'd told her students that she was going a much-needed vacation to get her head in the right mindset before competition season. "They're going to see straight through that.." She shook her head, and intensified her grip on the steering wheel. She drove for a few hours more, having already accomplished some of the feat between her home and where her sister was. From Kentucky to New York, it wasn't too long, but it was still considered a long-distance trip, and Em didn't want to have the hassle of airports. Who really gets anything positive from that place? Emily sighed through her nose as she swiped her phone, typing her pass code in quickly, to text her younger, vulnerable, sister.
To Effy:
"Love, where are you? It's nearly 3 o'clock. I thought you were going to meet me at the door of The Tower?"
She snarled as a passer-by bumped into her, and she quickly snapped, "Watch it!". Today was starting out lovely, that was for sure. She couldn't help but wonder who else lived in the city, it was so different from what she'd accustomed to for the past years.
