It had been the first time Eugene had traveled to such a large kingdom very similar to his own. When he would be able to accompany his parents on travels, it was mostly for business. Tonight however, was a celebration and there was nothing in the world that Eugene loved more than fun. He hummed happily listening to the lovely music being played as the banquet took place. His feet, barely even able to touch the floor from the lovely chair he sat in, swung back and forth. He looked over seeing his mother and father, royals of Crocodelle, laughing and chatting with the other adults. It made him a bit happy to see that.
He looked onto the table as he finally spotted it. Desserts! Perfect. He quickly reached over grabbing whatever he could get his hands on and stuffing it into the small bag he had along with him. Inside were a few toys and his favorite book in the world. Just in case he got bored. He smiled happily stuffing his face with delicate cake and getting a bit on his face. He paused as his mother turned to him and smiled. Of course, that smile faded when she took a napkin and began to wipe his face.
"Moom~!"
She laughed before hearing the giggles of other children at the end of the table.
"Eugene, why don't you run along with your friends? Remember to be safe ok?"
Eugene smiled as he nodded and quickly jumped out of his chair and ran to catch up with them. The other princes' and princess' were all quite familiar with Eugene. In fact, they all knew him. He was quite popular. Not for his fathers status or for his riches; but for his fun loving attitude and jokes.
"Eugene!" "Hey Eugene can you keep a secret!"
He paused. "Huh? A secret?" He smiled. "Yeah!"
One of the princes' stood forward and smiled. "We hear there is a super scary ghost inside this kingdom. Were gonna go and look around and see if we can find it!
Something in Eugene's naive brain clicked. Ghost hunting! How exciting! He nodded happily. "Yeah! Let's go!"
The group of children looked towards the adults. They were not paying attention what so ever. Perfect. They then began to sn sneak their way through the large door and into the main palace. They walked around aimlessly looking at the impressive interior. Eventually they began to walk past an odd door that seemed to catch Eugene's eye. He glared lightly. It was almost as if... The door was calling to him. He looked towards the group and smiled innocently.
"Hey I'm going to head back. I'll see you guys later."
As expected, they believed it. Perfect. He inched towards the door and examined it before pushing with all his might. The thing was heavy. He grunted and pushed feeling it move until it was open.
"Yes I did -IT!"
Eugene cried out as he fell onto the floor of the chamber.
