Too many questions and the devil that called himself Azrael In the end, it only was a small consolation that Anna knew the man before her would face the appropriately slow justice of the noose.

"Is your boss still here?" She hissed, gesturing to the fort and the corpses spread across it. "And which way did the carriages ride out? How many did they bring? How many men were with them?"

Anna would have preferred to spend more time searching Red Road, especially the mayor's residence, but the carriage wasn't more than a day ahead. The tracks would still be fresh. And a heavy carriage and its escort would never be able to outpace two of the Lord's hounds on the hunt. Or at least that was what Anna prayed for.
