‘I should have brought a jacket,' was the first thing that ran through Gabriel’s mind as the two teams walked slowly, painfully so, through the neighborhood. However, he ignored his need for warmth to slyly stare at his partner and grimace. Seth had to have known of his predicament for his power allowed him to notice things normal people wouldn’t, and thus let Gabriel freeze to death. ’The damn bastard.’

The road they were walking on was once smooth and darkly colored, but in correlation to how far they walked the quality sank. Pot holes covered the road and buildings were crudely boarded up with plywood and rusty nails - it was pitiful in the most broken of ways.

However, his internal grumbling came to a halt as for the first time in thirty minutes Seth spoke and broke the silence. Gabriel didn’t know wether or not he liked the new change, for he was used to the quiet and he knew that anytime his partner spoke a jab would be thrown; and as always he was right.

"...but he’ll listen to orders,” as if to make a wound even worse he began to pet his head in a very demeaning manner.

Gabriel shook his hand off and glared, “That is if you keep your hands to yourself,” He then looked behind to see if the other members were still listening and added, “And I don’t think we have worked together. I would have remember an odd pair like you two.” The comment was not meant to be offensive, but Gabriel had a penchant for making what he thought to be harmless statements into insults.

“Gabriel?”he shook his head in confusion as he hadn’t been listening to what Seth had said prior, but the unheard question was soon answered as Ethel pushed past the three of them and barged into the building. Elliot apologized for his partner’s behavior before racing in after her. Gabriel could do nothing but raise an eyebrow and let his facial expression speak for itself.

“Are they new?” He directed his question to Seth but didn’t wait for his response as he too followed the pair inside.

Stale air and thick dust greeted him upon arrival and it took pure force of will not to cough violently. As such he settled for a light clearing of his throat and rapid blinking of his eyes.

The place was a dump and all Gabriel wanted to do was get the mission over with so he could return home and [/i]sleep[/i] until the world needed him once more. However, the chance of that happening was less than ten percent, and so he didn’t get his hopes up too high.

“I”ll start looking around then,” he said and so gestured his head toward Seth as a sign to follow him. “You guys can follow or split up, your choice.” The moment he said that Gabriel began walking in an unknown direction.

The building was large, vast even, and the tacky pink wallpaper of the store seemed to brighten it’s rather eerie disposition. Gabriel assumed the place had once been a candy store for there were old candy boxes on shelves and gum ball machines still full lined every other aisle.

Everything was to be in perfect order and it intrigued him how organized everything was.

It was perhaps that very fact that helped Gabriel notice something out of place. Bread crumbs lined the floor, and he would have dismissed that fact if it hadn’t been for his earlier realization.

“Seth, what do you think?” despite not having talked to his partner before hand, Gabriel had faith in him that he would understand the meaning behind his question.
