"Hey boy- whatcha doing in the kitchen? Mum will kill you," He turned his head and noticed his Mum was in the kitchen cooking and obviously quite away of the dog and he snickered jokingly. "Ah- I see. You play the cold shoulder when Dad's around but he gets a free card the rest of the time?" He teased gently walking in and swiftly being bombarded by his Mother with kisses and hugs but above all, questions.
"How was your day honey? Please tell me you went to your classes for once," She teased fixing his hair but he swotted her hand away with a warning glare for which she then apologised smiling sheepishly.
"It was cool and yeah of course I went to class, I always do," He replied sarcastically but she only rolled her eyes. "Yeah- is it okay if Ellie joins us for dinner? I think she's going to get ready with me before we go out later, if that's still cool,"
"As long as your room is tidy," She told him pointing as if it made the comment more assertive but the encouragement was far from needed. Nate was an incredibly tidy and almost OCD guy, his books were organised alphabetically and his music was structured by alphabetical artist and then alphabetically by album or single name and his games were ordered chronologically but the series were also done alphabetically- he was incredibly conscious about those things and he was very peculiar about using coasters, it'd be an understatement to say he was extremely tidy. Not many people knew but his wardrobe was colour coordinated as where his school folders. So that was why, he laughed at her comment and nodded and stealing a muffin from the side he grinned at her.
"Always," He winked before waltzing out the door up to his room, the dog followed after him and then laid down under the radiator in his room as Nate put the muffin down and took down for a moment to take a breather. He got out his phone and sent Ellie a quick text.
To El:
Heeeeeeeeeeeeey, dinner is @ 5:30
To El:
So in other words, get your arse over here
And with that text he flopped down on his bed and decided to read for a while until dinner and then he'd get ready when he could abuse Ellie's gender in order to get outfit advice and often not at all constructive criticism.

She also really needed to talk to him about school but she was biding her time for that- she couldn't summon the courage nor confidence to bring up the topic with him. She'd pretend she'd deleted Jace's number and all his texts, tell him she'd broken up with him (and probably broken his nose too) and ask him to come out, as friends. She'd tell him she had her hour shift to do and then she'd come join him and Ellie and Nate for drinks afterwards and they could have a really fun night.
That's what she'd tell him.
She found herself checking her hair and her eye make-up in the reflection of the door and then frowned at herself for it. She wasn't supposed to care about that around Jamie but part of her did. She mentally slapped herself and she painted on a brilliant white smile as she looked and waited for someone to open the door.
