While he waited for Mikaze, Hitoshi played a couple of simple tunes that he knew by heart, his favorite being Gymnopédie No. 1 by Erik Satie. It was one of the first songs his mother had taught him and he often played it when he was bored, as it tended to remind him of when his mother was still alive and playing alongside him.
He stopped about twenty seconds into the song and leaned his head on the keys, a variety of pitches and sounds filling the room in uncoordinated fashion. "Mikaze, what do you think our results will be for the Kreutzer from yesterday? I feel like the judges were pissed that we used an anime song, even if it was a free choice concert."
It wasn't an exaggeration to say that the judges weren't usually all that happy when it came to playing songs that weren't from the classical music genre. Hitoshi enjoyed pissing them off, for the most part, but not when it could affect their overall score.
He sat back up once Mikaze entered the room, taking his copy of the sheet music with a grin on his face. "I like this song, you always pick good ones~" Hitoshi had gotten used to playing only the prettiest and most interesting songs, compared to other pairs who only played cliche classical songs by Mozart, Chopin or Beethoven.
The song started slow between them, as per usual. Mistakes happened every once in a while and the two boys gave each other tips, the song slowly becoming more fluid.
