Scout didn't say anything, her mouth still full- but she was looking him up and down. Assessing him. Trying to figure out if they could trust him or not. He didn't come across as instantly dodgy- but what did he mean by his situation turning nasty?

Then he fucked up monumentally and lost the job and the apartment, and managed to drag me into the whole mess. My parents are in Australia, and there's no way I can get out to them.
