"I'm very glad I didn't. It would have been rather hard to lose you again." It wasn't until he saw the confused look on Makoto's face that Hina realized what he'd said, and laughed nervously, scratching the side of his cheek with his hand. "Sorry, I'm not making much sense, am I?" Hina stood and softly smoothed a hand over his friend's hair. "Thank you for the First Aid, I should get back to work now." And with that, he left, scolding himself once again. XX
For the last two hours of his shift, Hinata found himself plagued with thoughts of a certain brunette boy, and although his optimistic expression remained the same as always, even some of the regular customers could tell he wasn't feeling his best. It was partly because of how tired he was - seven hours of school and then a six hour work shift left little time for resting - but it was mostly due to the sudden influx of still-vulnerable memories and feelings concerning Makoto. Hina knew the boy wasn't to blame, since it was his emotions he needed to deal with, but was a lie to say Makko wasn't the cause. XX
When his shift finally ended, he was absolutely exhausted. Hina dreaded the hour's worth of homework that awaited him once he got home, and even more so the fact that he'd have to repeat the whole cycle again tomorrow. However, he did love his job, and definitely wouldn't be able to get by without it. Since Jintan was his next-door neighbor, and had the same shift, the two walked home together. Their conversation consisted mostly of school and sports and a little bit about Jintan's girlfriend, Momo. Once they got to their floor, the two bid each other goodbye and disappeared into their homes. XXXX
Hina fought the urge to simply neglect his grades in favor of a good night's sleep, and made himself a bowl of ramen before plopping down at his dining room table to complete the different worksheets due the next day. It didn't take nearly as long as he'd anticipated, and he was in bed by ten o' clock. XXXXX
Unfortunately, he couldn't find sleep. After at least fifteen minutes of staring at the ceiling, Hina crawled out of bed and sighed, trying to think of something to do that wouldn't stimulate his brain and make it even harder to fall asleep. His eyes settled on a sketchpad he'd bought the week before. Finding a pencil and settling back underneath the covers, Hinata used the light coming in the window and started drawing, not bothering to follow any sort of plan. He let out another sigh as the drawing made itself clear, showing a rather realistic image of Makoto. The boy still had his wings in the picture, large and detailed and looking just as soft and Hina could remember. He closed the book and went back to sleep, finally falling into his dreams. XX
