With the approach of the autumn festival, the entire school was in an uproar, and Hinata found himself with almost no time to himself. Every minute he wasn't in class or at work, he was helping his classmates prepare. They'd decided to go for the cliche Maid Cafe theme, and apparently one of his female classmates had found out about his part-time job and insisted he act as a waiter. Hinata didn't even try to refuse, he already knew they wouldn't take no for an answer. And so, he ended up as part of a big plan to bring in 'customers' with his apparent charm and good looks, of course without his wanting to. XX
Despite being constantly busy, Hinata was still able to see Makoto every day. The boy had come to the cafe several more times and each time was able to chat with Hina quite a bit, which was nice since they were hardly able to say even a single sentence to each other during school hours due to all the chaos. And whenever they spoke, Hinata learned more about Makoto. Many things were the same as before: he still loved the piano, and still had a major sweet tooth. However, some were new, like how he was amazing at volleyball, and jumpy, and horrible at mathematics. Every time Hina learned something new about Makoto he loved him even more, and while Hina was never too flirty in public, the fact he was in love with him wasn't unknown. XXX
Most of the cafe's staff knew about Hinata's infatuation with Makoto, and he was constantly being teased with questions like 'when are you going to ask him out' or 'isn't he dating someone already'. In truth, Hina hated it, but at least it was them finding out rather than everyone at school. When he was at school, Hina was already considered the most popular male, despite having only transferred two weeks prior. He was glad that everyone was busy with festival preparations, otherwise he likely never would've gotten a break from girls wanting his number and guys wanting to know how to 'pick up girls'. XX
Hinata didn't know anything about the other classes' projects until the day before the festival itself, when everyone was nearly finished and finally allowed time to do things other than prepare. Makoto's class had popped up in a conversation between him and a couple of classmates, and Hinata was both surprised and intrigued when he heard about a performance. No one knew what it would be exactly, only that 'the beautiful Chi-chan and her friend' would be conducting it. As the group passed by Makoto's class, Hina took the time to wave to Chitose and Makoto, giving them a smile before returning to his friends and the conversation at hand. He spent the walk to work trying to envision what type of captivating performance the two would put on. XXX
