Cinder scratched the tip of one of her red polished nails along the frame of the Shinigami Board. Her eyes searched for her and her partner's latest assignment among the pinned up heap with a high level of impatience. It was the anniversary of her sister's death and she had still not successfully located nor defeated their traitor kishin mother. It was hard to be proud of how far she had gotten and what she had already achieved when her sole reason for attending the DWMA had not yet been fulfilled. It was frustrating and infuriating, her eyes almost glowing with hatred as she glared at the board. She clung onto a desperate hope that her wish would be granted today of all days. Reading her name and Lucas' assigned to a random murderer and not her ideal target, her glare was enhanced tenfold. Everything means nothing if I can't see this through.
Cinder walked away from the board with haste as if she detested it, her heavy footsteps echoing through the hallways she happened upon on her way to class. A year and nothing, no trail, nothing. she contemplated angrily, wondering where her mother could have gone. Worst case scenario, her mother had already been defeated by another meister and death scythe. Cinder considered it as a possibility but such a situation would grind her bones. Nobody deserves that kill more than me. So distracted, she had nearly missed the entrance to her classroom if not for the familiar students she spotted filling the room. Cinder could not identify her weapon partner Lucas among them, bringing her to subtly sigh between her lips in disappointment. She viewed her education as important as his, being partners that had to rely on one another out there in the field. Cinder took her usual seat in the front row, retrieving her notebook and other study necessities out of her shoulder bag to lay out in preparation on the table.
Ready for anything, she watched the Sky and Qi duo out of the corner of her eye questioning their chemistry. Cinder could not recall their abilities but she remembered their names well and acknowledged them as her classmates. Wanting to be the best of the best, she would not be wondering for long. A time would come when she would see their abilities for herself or be the one to challenge them.
