Ren was confusing, he seemed hot and cold, sort of untouchable in a way Doll didn't really understand. What she did understand, however, was that he didn't like her. What had she done wrong? Doll wondered, hoping she could fix it. Maybe she could read to him? Zero was probably the only one that liked that though. Still, the boys were brothers, there had to be some quality that they shared. Doll gestured to the plate of cookies, Grell had left them behind in his rush to go find the Doc. "Do you want one? Grell makes them really good." Doll asked, hoping to find something that they could mediate with.
"What do you mean?" Make better friends? Doll had great friends! "I have lots of good friends. Grell, Doctor Atarashi, Zero, and you." The staff too, or at least, Doll hoped they considered her a friend. She also hoped that they got all the cookies she had made on Christmas for them. She would have liked to hand them out herself, but she hoped Grell delivered the little treats in her stead. Or perhaps they had given up completely and left the cookies to burn in the oven. The thought made her a bit sad, just remembering how hard she and Grell had worked to make sugar cookies that everyone would like.
Did Doctor Atarashi count as a friend? Doll wondered. He was the Doctor, her owner, or maybe Zero was really her owner? The thought of it made her head spin and she felt her cheeks heat up. Doll looked away so Ren wouldn't see it. Thinking of Zero made her heart fluttery and her head feel light. It was a good feeling though, the kind that made you smile. Little did Doll know, Ren didn't like her because she was a human. If he had known of her true lineage, the fact that she was an unwanted mutt, would he still have hated her? Doll didn't even know about this other half, all those incidents when it came up, her mind seemed to take them out, leaving white blanks in her memories. That day, all she could recall was falling out the window, not the blood needles or the smell of death.
