Her fate? Pathetic excuse. She could make her own destiny—if she tried. In the corridor he caught up with Doc and pulled him aside. Grell went on to accompany Doll.
"Doctor, there's been an incident regarding my brother." Ren said, cutting straight to the point. "He was sick and I was left with no choice but to cure him."
Doctor Atarashi's expression was anything but impressed. "What happened to Zero?"
"Like I said, it's taken care of." He wasn't about to go into specifics.
The doctor gripped Ren's shoulder. "That's not what I asked."
"I removed the part of him that wanted to devour Doll." He shook himself free. "It's the least I could do for my brother."
Doctor Atarashi's eyes widened as if that were news.
"What?"
"He's fine. Just give him fresh blood when he wakes. You're capable of that." And much more but that wasn't the matter.
"What did you do to Zero?"
"Don't look so surprised, I'm sure you've noticed but chose to ignore it." He didn't hold back. "I won't let you or some foolish girl kill him."
"I'm always watching over him."
"Like you watch over the semi-paralyzed girl back there? Impressive."
Doctor's eyes turned glacial.
Ren smirked, "Did you honestly think I'd let you use him like he's some lab rat?" No, he wouldnt let doc interrupt, "You can toy with your precious doll, I hardly care. But don't involve Zero. He isn't a puppet."
Doctor cursed through his teeth, he raced passed and headed toward Zero's room where he'd find nothing but quiet and temporary peace. For a moment Ren allowed himself that too. No more fears, no more anxiety, no more concerns. Just pure tranquility. He'd enjoy the silence.
