"Just a little bit father," the Doctor promised. She took another step forward, using the crutches and then trying to swing her body forward. "No, that doesn't count." Doll sighed and Grell brought her back a step. "An actual step," he prompted and Doll tried, she really did, but she couldn't. Her legs weren't cooperating and she ended up falling flat. "Alright, I think that's enough for today." Doctor Atarashi sighed and pushed his glasses up his nose. "Let me help you up," Grell said quietly and lifted her, putting her in the wheelchair. "I'm sorry, I tried, I really did." Doll said as the nurse removed the braces from her legs. "We know, you're doing your best." Doctor Atarashi said encouragingly.
"Can I go see him now?" She asked eagerly and Grell laughed. "I can see if he's up for it," Grell wheeled Doll back to her room, leaving the door open. Ren was blocking the doorway of Zero's room so that Doll couldn't see him. She felt excited though, she couldn't wait to see Zero again and tell him about all the things he had missed, about how Grell had taken her up to the roof where there was a little sanctuary garden and about the braces and all the cookies he had missed. "Do you want to go back in bed?" Grell asked and Doll shook her head. "No, that's alright. It's almost lunch time anyways." Which meant more soup and pudding.
"I convinced the cook to sneak in some cookies." Grell lifted the cover to reveal soup and a dirt cup, which was pudding with crushed cookies in it. He was joking of course since he was the cook. "Everything looks so good," her eyes lit up as she picked up her spoon. "Oh are you gonna go see if Zero is up?" Doll asked as Grell walked towards the door. The red headed Being nodded his head and smiled, "Yup, I'll be back in a jiffy." Doll had no idea what a jiffy was but she smiled regardless and watched him leave. What would she tell Zero about first? Maybe that she could write her name on her own. Both Loretta and Doll, she had it hanging up on the wall as proof.
Or perhaps she should show him the braces first? No, they had left those in the PT room so that was out of the question. Hmm what should Doll talk to him about? She had no idea, she was excited and also a little bit nervous in case he really was hurt by Ren.
