It was a cloudy day. The news said there was some risk of rain. With Frank's luck it probably was going to start raining soon.

He wasn't having a good day, a good week or even a good life if you take his word for it. One hand in his pocket, the other clutching some old duffel bag with a few of his belongings inside, he walked up the soft earth of the hill towards the manor. He was near the road, close enough to see it if he looked to his right. He preferred to take the more natural route as opposed to walking on the road itself. The ground had a nice yield under the feet and it was also a more remote trek. He didn't have to concern himself with much in the way of company. His hope was that the mansion itself didn't have residents of it's own, squatters or otherwise.

In the distance he heard something which brought his attention to the road. He saw two men running the other direction, clad in nothing but their briefs and masks. This was definitely a sight worthy of a raised eyebrow. He could only ponder what set of circumstances could of led to this odd result. Naturally Frank passed the whole thing off as just being the result of people drinking themselves into a stupor but even he knew such deduction was merely an assumption, the truth eluding him whilst raising some curiosity all the while.

Not enough to get him to bother following and questioning the two individuals however. Their answers weren't deemed worthy of the stress undergoing such an investigation would be for him. He was in no mood to chase a couple semi-nudists down or make unnecessary conversation. Instead he pressed onward until he reached his destination.

Coming into sight Frank saw the building in full view. It was not an unimpressive sight to behold this mansion. It was an older fashion but it looked like it hadn't suffered in the years it was rumored to have been standing. It struck him as strange for such a place to have endured the weather of three hundred years without looking worse for wear. His imagination couldn't fathom many probable reasons that didn't range into the absurd. It was something he planned on looking into when he got inside.

Coming up to the gate he gingerly placed his hand against a bar. If this place was still in use there was a possibility that there might of been a security system installed. In this case he wanted to make sure the gate wasn't electrified. It wasn't likely but he didn't like leaving things to chance. Confirming the gate's safety he got to climbing. Naturally as was the case with old structures like these the fences were decorated with fancy metalwork and lettering as well as other such aesthetic works. Such features made for both footholds and handholds which he could pull himself up on. It was no easy effort but Frank was rarely ever daunted by physical challenges. His physical ability was one of the few things he had at this point, he would curse himself if he didn't at least make some use of that.

Carefully navigating over the metal points up on the top of the gate he let himself down on the other side. He was past the gate and now the manor laid before him, a treasure trove of things unseen for these many years. His curiosity for what remained untouched was strong. More than that however he could only wonder just how nature hadn't reclaimed this structure yet. There were no vines on the walls and the grass looked as though it were cut recently. Even the bushes were trimmed, something which struck him as more than a little odd.

Reticently approaching the two large front doors he was too wary to enter without caution. Opening a door open a crack he peered inside, looking around the main foyer. Though unlit the entire place was opulently adorned. The decorations were not excessive but impressive from what little he could see. Strangely there was little to no dust on anything within. This place was more than a little well kept for someplace that was rumored to be abandoned. Ever careful he decided to knock a couple times on the door he was holding, announcing his arrival.

"Hello? Anyone in here?"

He called out to whoever might be responsible for this place's upkeep. When silence was all that greeted his question he gave up on waiting for a response and stepped inside. As his shoes were rather caked with dirt from the walk, though they were never clean to begin with given how he's been living, he decided to take them off and leave them next to the doorway. He didn't want to track dirt all over the place he was going to be living in and though his socks were none too clean either at least they wouldn't leave quite as much of a mess.

Walking into the center of the foyer in his socks he looked around, taking in the household's various details. There was much to explore but he figured he had a fair amount of time to look around and take in the scenery.

"Well, guess no one's here. Might as well make myself cozy."
