|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||
Demon Queen and Angel Princess faced one another, seemingly forever opposed. There was no kindness here, there was only unresolved pain from the war that scorched both Hell and Heaven. Kitra rather enjoyed referring to her as a dog, it suited the mongrel of a princess she was. All of this pent up anger and misery from losing most of her family would be answered by this girl who was far too small. "Oh, that's a fun game. So if I claimed to be human, does that make it true?" She laughed, harsh and cold, a cruel tinny sound echoing through, staring Celeste down as best as she could. "Your title of princess holds no power here, Celty, so don't bother. You're just a toy for me to play with now." That was the undeniable truth that Celeste couldn't deny. "I don't fear any angel court either. Let them come, I'll strike them all down."
Still, Celeste was insisting that she had no idea about anything. She didn't even know how the previous war ended, did she? She didn't know the crimes the angels committed to force the demons into losing their sovereigns, did she? "You're so ignorant. I bet you just sit in your room and don't even bother learning the truth with your own ears, huh?" This princess probably never saw a day of hardship in her life, did she? A sheltered little brat that had no idea about anything. "I was there, Celty. I was with my big siblings and my parents, marching on Heaven's Gates in that battle." She could still hear the echo of the Demon Army's advance, the throngs of battle.
Her whole body seemed to go rigid, as if the memory was painful. "I remember some royal angel guy, maybe one of the princes, he showed up at the gate with my kid siblings, Lilim and Buer, told us to stop or he'd slit their throats. So we listened, we surrendered, and then Mother and Father went to the meeting and we never saw them again!" It hurt to even think about. Rage and misery was coiling up in the closed up heart of the current Demon Queen, her usual striking hatred wasn't in her eyes, just a deep sorrow. "But you, in your fancy palace, you never had to worry about any of that, huh? So if fighting makes me manly and brutish, fine! I don't need to be a woman! As long as I have the strength to protect what's left of my family, I don't care about anything else!"
But Celeste still wasn't listening at all, she was refusing to accept the truth. Kitra grit her teeth. "The Demon Army never relied on tricks like that to win. We used our strength, our honest and pure strength, to fight." That was how demons were. Angels, with their tricky words and treaties and meetings, they didn't respect strength, they just quibbled with one another with fancy speech and parties. When this stupid angel princess insisted that she killed an innocent man, Kitra sent another surge of electricity into the princess. "Did you not listen? He admitted to the crime, he told us that our parents were taken captive as monsters!" Fury was blazing in her amber eyes. "And you dare to call him innocent. How naive can you be, dog?" Well, Kitra would shatter that innocence as best as she-
Kit? Memories of Furfur rippled through her mind. No, only Furfur was allowed to call her that, and she was dead now. She tore the spear out and aimed it right at where the wing attached to the rest of the body. "Careful with what you call me, or I'll cut off this one too." Kitra hissed, and then did another fancy spin to pull the spear back, heating it up with electricity and then jabbing it into the belly wound to cauterize it and stop the bleeding. Of course, her own hands were scorched now, but the Demon Queen hardly noticed. "I have a mission. I will save my family, and I need you here for that to happen."
A voice, someone entered. Kitra didn't expect an interruption, but one of the Demon Soldiers was here, a captain who served her father. "Well, what do we have here, an angel princess for the takings, huh?" Captain Forneus, a strong and powerful captain. "That's right. She'll be the perfect bait." The Demon Queen regained her composure, back to being cold and in control. "What do you want, Forneus?" The Captain grinned at her, and then eyed the princess. "Y'know, if you want to torture a sheltered princess, why not give her to me? I could teach her things only a man can teach." There was a gleam in his eyes. "Your father would say yes. It's the best way to break her."
In a split second, Kitra made one movement and Forneus lost both of his arms. "You made a mistake here, Forneus. I am not my father." Kitra would rule differently, she would show them victory. She'd surpass her father in every sense of the word. "And the Demon Army fights with honor. There's a line, and you just crossed it. Die." She then sent the spear through Forneus's throat, and then there was a burst of energy. He was shifting, changing, turning into a giant minotaur-like beast, roaring mindlessly. Kitra did a twirl and jumped up and stabbed the spear into the monster's chest, unleashing a surge of electricity until finally, what remained of Forneus became nothing but a black vapor. "Go now, to a new body, and become a better demon."
Kitra sighed, then turned back to her captive. "I should send word to your brothers and tell them how you're doing. They'll come right here, won't they?" A wicked grin was spreading, as if the Forneus incident hadn't even fazed her in the least.
