The teenager remained largely silent and unflinching as she cleaned and tended to his cuts, just a few more additions to the myriad of varied marks spanning his arms and sides.
"You act like it would be so easy. You've just got issues with your parents that worked a lot. Sorry to break it to you, but I've got a lot of problems to work out."
He eventually peeled himself from the floor, shambling towards his room and clutching his now-bandaged arm. His voice was quiet, but still audible:
"I wish I knew who my parents even were."
Haruka trudged into his room and pulled the door shut behind him. Without even bothering to change or even touch the sheets, he flopped down onto the bed, clutching a pillow tightly to his chest as he drifted towards sleep.
