Gabriela listened absently as Natalie shot a few questions at the Major. She had no questions herself, but her partner brought up some good ones, as well. As far as her partner's suggestion went...that was probably their best course to take, all things considered. There was a good chance that Parker had been just a random pick, an easy target that the Succubus had chosen. It was likely her first time meeting the vic too, otherwise Parker would have died a long time ago. Though that might make it her first time at whatever bar, club, or strip joint Parker frequented, too....which would make their investigation harder. Still, it was an avenue worth pursuing. If they were lucky, Parker hadn't just been picked up by the Succubus on the streets. Now that would be a harder lead to follow.
"The local police are just investigating his murder. They have no idea what actually happened to him, of course, but they are treating his death as suspicious. The detectives assigned to his case are likely going to show up at the hospital soon, if they haven't already. You'll have to deal with them during your own investigation...but how that goes, I leave up to you, Agents. The detectives could prove useful for grunt work, or chasing down other leads. They may not like you, but they will respect the authority you wield. Or proclaim to wield, at least." Amaro replied, answering the first part of Natalie's question.
Gabriela gave at nod at that, taking in her superior's elaboration. Figured that the local 5-0 would be taking a look at his death. And why not? To have someone die so suddenly like that, under suspicious circumstances...of course they'd look into the possibility that Parker was murdered. The local cops assigned to his case might be annoying to deal with...but a flash of her and Natalie's FBI badges would hopefully make them cooperate. Of course, neither she nor Natalie were actually FBI agents. But it wasn't as if they could seriously claim they were apart of a shadowy, secret organization that hunted down monsters, right? Thus, the Society provided them with several false identities and covers when they pursued these cases. And among those different covers, she and Natalie had a pair of FBI badges. Of all the bogus badges they had been issued, the FBI ones seemed to be the best ones to use in this case.
"Oh, and to answer your question...so far, the local police haven't dug up anything of note. I imagine they'll be focusing their investigation on his wife...which is reasonable enough. When a husband or wife suddenly dies, especially under suspicious circumstances, there's a good chance their spouse was behind it. Of course, I doubt that will be the case in this instance....though you shouldn't neglect to look into the possibility that the wife herself was Turned in the last forty-eight hours. Things like this happen from time to time, after all." the Major added, shifting a little in his seat. "And as for similar victims....well, this is New York City, Inspector Harker. We receive reports of all sorts of monster activity in this city on a near daily basis. Over the past several weeks, there have been other reported instances of succubus-instigated death....but about half of those investigations led nowhere. It's easy to disappear in this city, after all. Though hopefully things will be different in this case. You two do get paid more with a successful investigation, after all."
Miguel gave a little chuckle at that, while Gabriela herself gave a weak little smile at the half-joke. Their superior wasn't wrong, per say. They got paid regardless, but they did receive a bonus in their checks whenever their missions ended with the successful bag-and-tag of a monster. She supposed the higher-ups thought it would give their field agents an incentive to work harder at their jobs, or something.
"Any other questions, Agents?" Amaro inquired for the last time, looking between the two Inspectors.
