Unlike the times before, the recovery for these wounds were a bit easier. She had two broken ribs and her middle was wrapped, as well as a concussion and some internal bleeding that was quickly mopped up. Within the first day, Yui was back on her feet, walking slowly around the room with Xavier since Ally was wheelchair bound with her broken leg. Ally had to have eleven metal pins put into her leg and there was suspicion of severe nerve damage, which was evident by the way Ally kept wincing and hissing in pain, even when she was sitting unmoving in her chair. Thankfully it was something that was treatable with daily pills and plenty of pain killers. Yui's biggest issue was how painful it was to breathe, her ribs crackling with every breathe as they were on the mend. Her torso was covered in black and blue bruises and bathing was a task on its own. Thankfully Ally sponged her down whenever her ena was looking especially crackly.
"I can't wait for Aria to return," it was the bright spot in all of this. When they video called, even if Aria couldn't see, Yui was very happy to be able to chat with the girl she considered one of her big sister's. "I'm so glad you'll be coming home soon," Yui smiled, even if Aria couldn't see it. "I miss you a lot," Ally scoffed in the background. "You make it sound like we're not taking care of you," she smiled teasingly as Yui blushed. "Th-that's not it!" Yui shook her head vigorously and Ally giggled. "I'm just teasing you Yui," this only served to make Yui blush further. "Regardless Aria, I think we'll all be very happy when you come home," the video call ended after that. "Why didn't you tell her about Ronan?" Yui asked quietly. "She has enough on her plate already, I don't want her to worry anymore than she has to."
By the third day, Yui was up and walking around on her own. She was eating full solids again, but still receiving nutrient replacement to try and get some weight back on her body. Ronan too, now had to use the synthetic nutrients as he couldn't eat much without throwing up. The Doc was working hard on growing the replacement kidneys as swiftly as possible and in the meantime Ronan was bedridden, spending most of his free time trying to catch up on all of the missed schoolwork when he had the energy. Yui went to visit him a lot and would sit silently on his lap, coloring while he read. Ally was finally fitted with the sleek, metal exoskeleton for her leg and was learning to put weight on it again. It was painful at fist, especially since she still had eleven metal pins in it, but she was working hard, they were all working hard towards a better future.
"Ready to get out of here?" Ally asked on the day they were to pick Aria up. Thy had gotten permission to take a little field trip outside of the hospital, but had to be back before 5 PM. "Let's go! Let's go! She's gonna be here soon!" Yui excitedly pushed Ally in the wheelchair out the door. Ronan had to stay behind, as he couldn't leave the hospital. Yui had left him some pictures to color in case he got bored of the textbooks or holo screen. It was strange having a big brother who was so sick, Yui had always imagined Ronan as un-destructible, a force of nature to be reckoned with.
There was quite the flurry of activity when they arrived at the airport. Aria was flanked on every side by reporters, wearing sunglasses so as not to give away the fact that she was blind. One arm was in a sling, it was clear that Aria had already gotten into a fight. "Ari!" Yui called out to her, but Ally touched her shoulder, subtly shaking her head. They didn't want to attract the attention of the media, Ally didn't want Yui to have to find out that someone had tried to kill them through a news reporter. Was it bad to think that Yui was better naive of these things? All Ally wanted to do was preserve her innocence, there was no reson an eleven year old should have to worry about the safety of their life.
