The shuttle arrived at the hospital, Ronan was waiting for them in the entryway, using the IV pole as support. He had been unhooked from majority of the machines that had been keeping him alive, no longer bedridden and slowly rebuilding his strength. "Hey kiddo, how was it?" He asked, helping her out of her shoes and into a pair of slippers. "I picked one," Yui said brightly, her eyes having a bit of a sparkle. "I don't know what I'm gonna name him yet, but he's small and fluffy," Ronan quirked a brow. "Oh yeah? Just like you," he straightened, ruffling her hair. "Come on, I think the nurse wanted to see you when you got back," Yui groaned, allowing Ronan to take her hand and lead her upstairs. "What's wrong, you don't like your nurse?" Yui shook her head, "No, it's just that she's always checking on me, it feels like I never get to spend anymore time with you and Ari."
"Well, don't worry, there will be plenty of that in the future." They stepped into the elevator, Leo close behind. He was smiling, knowing something that Yui didn't. He was standing in front of them though so Yui couldn't see. The hallway that led to her room seemed awfully quiet. None of the nurses looked up when she arrived, which was unusual. Normally they were so friendly and often spoke to her on her way to and from the room. Yui stuck close to Ronan, that feeling of panic and unease arising in her stomach. Had something happened? Had Yui done something? Were they already forgetting her? She swallowed hard, her gaze remaining on the ground. "Hey," Ronan said, suddenly making her look up. "Don't worry, okay? Everything's gonna be alright," his words put her slightly at ease. "Will they really?" Ronan nodded, squeezing her hand ever so slightly. "I won't let anyone ruin this peace, we finally have a shot at happiness."
Ronan had distracted her, so much so that Yui didn't sense the presence of the others in her room. She thought it unusual that the light was off since Yui never turned off the light due to the fact that she was deathly afraid of the dark. The sound of a giggle and a sneeze made her scream and run out of the room. "Yui, wait!" Ronan called, grabbing her and doing his best to lift her. He nearly dropped Yui when they reached her room once more and the light was turned on. Perhaps a surprised party for someone struggling with PTSD wasn't the best idea, but the blame for this fell on Ronan's shoulders since he had purposely neglected to tell the others. "Surprise," Ronan added, nudging her further inside. Yui's eyes widened, they were all here, Ally, Aria, Damian, Xavier, Haruka, and Mizuki, all of them had come just for her birthday. There were fish swimming from the ceiling, streamers and wall decorations all strung about to transform her room into the ocean. "I love it," Yui gasped, looking around. She didn't think she was ever going to take down these decorations.
There was a crepe cake, a stack of crepes with creme between the layers and on top. Yui's eyes glittered as they all sang her happy birthday and she blew out the candles. "It's delicious!" Ronan took a dollop of whipped cream and placed it on her nose. He couldn't share in the cake, Ronan wasn't allowed to eat quite yet. "I love you all too," Yui could sense Aria's sudden wave of emotion and she tried not to let it effect her too. "Presents? You didn't have to get me anything." Yui was happy enough just having them all here and knowing that they hadn't forgotten about her. The first present was thoroughly confusing, a school uniform? Yui politely thanked Ally and opened up the next one, which was a gaming system from Mizuki. "Thanks Mizu, I've always wanted one of these." Yui's smile was genuine.
She loved Leo's gift, Yui had always had a passion for reading. Aria's gift was amazing and Yui didn't hesitate to pull it from the box and sing a few test notes. Akane's gift made tears well up in her eyes, "Can you help me put it on?" She asked, brushing aside her hair so that Akane could fasten the locket around her neck. She hugged the stuffed duck she received protectively as she opened up the next box, a crepe maker. "Really? This is for me?" She was in awe and already wanted to use it. Ronan's gift was last but certainly not least, an extravagantly wrapped flat package. Yui opened it slowly, tearing off the end so as not to rip whatever was inside. "St... Agnes?" Her hands shook as she ripped open the envelope and slowly read the message inside. "School?" Yui asked, the excitement in her inflection palpable. "I'm going to school?" Yui threw her arms around Ronan's neck, squealing in excitement. They wished her a happy birthday and finally, Aria burst into tears.
