While Ophie was very vigilant in keeping up her shield, she eventually passed out from exhaustion since it used up her energy. And of course that was when the disgusting humans struck, easily strapping her down, no matter how had the spider tried to fight. These humans that pretended they were doing the right thing but they were only horrible disgusting villains, and Ophie decided to engrave it in her soul to always always hate humans, no matter what. Maybe she would have given them a chance if they hadn't tricked them into coming here, into becoming captives, tying Alice up so that she couldn't move and be free and beautiful as she wished - Ophie should have just killed Wild back at the facility when she had the chance. She should have torn out his intestines and eaten them before his eyes. Now she was restrained and helpless to whatever horrible things the humans had planned.
Mentally, the spider truly was the most fragile of the three, and upon waking up to realize she couldn't move, her limbs were trussed down too tightly, and when she saw the needle and the tube going into Alice, precious beloved Alice, pure Alice that deserved better than to have disgusting human chemicals going into her, the spider knew it. She failed, she failed Alice, she promised to protect and she couldn't, she was just a weak thing that wasn't good enough for anything. The spider was spiraling into self hatred and despair because of her powerlessness when she promised time and time again to protect the bat she so loved. Was it so bad to just want to protect her?
How long has it been since Alice's voice was there to drive away the monsters in Ophie's head? Too long, far too long, and then her increasing panic and self loathing only served to worsen the monsters. "Too weak... can't protect... Alice... from humans..." Her words were slurred and it was like a mantra of madness now. If the humans thought they were trying to help rehabilitate her, they were only making her condition worse. "If I can't protect Alice... why does Ophie exist? If I'm useless.... why am I alive?" Once again they were in captivity and there was nothing, nothing she could do about it.
So Ophie did the only thing she could. She failed her prime directive, she no longer deserved to live. So she bit down on her tongue, the blood spurting out, the chunk of tongue flesh spat out, and then she felt dizzier and fainter than before. Ophie was a useless spider, couldn't protect the bat, why did she think she deserved to live anyways? This is the punishment for weakness in a dog-eat-dog world. "I aw oo A-iss." She said, trying to say she loved Alice but it was impossible with half a tongue and a mouth full of blood.
