Once he'd finished eating and washing the dishes Hikari found himself without much else to do. He'd already done all the classwork that needed to be done aside from his Photography project, which he needed Kazuo present in order to complete. The multitude of plant life in his apartment didn't need water too often, and he'd already watered once that week. He wasn't much one for television, and he didn't have a piano in the apartment, so there wasn't much to do except for reread one of the books he owned. I suppose this is how nee-san must feel when okaa-san and tou-san are away at work. I hope she's not too bored, in that house all alone. Of course, Akari wasn't entirely alone - their grandmother was likely at the house as well, though Hikari knew his sister would do everything in her power to avoid the dreadful woman. XXX
Hikari was saved from his impending boredom by a call from the lobby, letting him know there was a package at the front desk for him to receive. Pulling on his shoes and sweater, Hikari made his way down to the ground floor and retrieved the package from the management, taking the time to apologize for them having to clean up his vomit from that morning. The young girl tending the desk assured him it hadn't been that big of an issue, seeing as it was really only mucus and not any actual food. Hikari thanked her anyhow, and she waved him off with a polite smile he didn't often find among his schoolmates. Although, if she's working here, it's possible she isn't even a student at Tokyo Uni. XX
During the elevator ride back to his own floor, Hikari turned his attention to the package in his hands. It was undoubtedly from Akari, her oddly-sized English letters scrawling across the address label in bright green pen. The package itself wasn't very big, which meant it was likely only one item, and when Hikari lightly shook the package he could hear sounds of liquid splashing inside. I wonder what kind of odd American drink she's sent me this time. Hikari thought to himself, stepping out of the elevator and stopping to admire the view from the walkway. Tokyo was indeed beautiful, even if it was very different from the place he'd grown up. Hikari let out a small sigh and returned to the apartment. XXX
As it turned out, the 'odd American drink' Akari had sent through the mail was actually a carefully-packaged bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, a famous - and moderately expensive - American red wine. Hikari was amazed the bottle hadn't broken during the journey from the United States to Tokyo. The letter enclosed in the package was shorter than the ones Akari usually sent with her gifts, briefly explaining that she'd been given the wine as a present. Apparently she'd already owned an unopened bottle at the time and had decided to send the other bottle to him rather than let it collect dust during the next year it took for her to finish the other bottle. I wonder when I last drank any fine wine... XX
Hikari was terrible at holding his liquor, so by the time he'd finished his first glass, his cheeks were pink and his eyes half-lidded, a small, content smile seemingly permanent on his face. As it was already late into the evening, it wasn't too long before Kazuo returned home from work, and Hikari visibly brightened. "Kazuo, okaeri~" He called, waving from his place at the table. "Nee-san sent us some wine, expensive wine too. Some fancy brand from America, its quite good, you should come try some." Hikari giggled quietly, gesturing to the bottle of wine sat next to his own almost-empty glass on the table. It was obvious from the flirtatious tone of voice Hikari was tipsy, though not quite drunk. XX
Standing up in one slow, surprisingly graceful movement, Hikari smirked and took a few steps closer to Kazuo, reaching up to wrap his arms around the other man's neck. "You really are quite an attractive man. I doubt I'm the only one whose found myself in love." He said, cupping Kazuo's cheeks gently and pressing their lips together in a proper kiss, one that held a far different meaning than the kiss from that morning. XX
