When morning finally came, the storm was over, the rain was gone, all that was ahead of them now were clear skies and calm seas. A perfect time to be out sailing in the ocean, they would be able to make good progress today if the weather continued to cooperate. Asther had slept with Reyna that night, snuggled into the mattress. She found it comforting, in a way. Not the same way Corona would, because Asther didn't really have feelings for anyone that way. Romance was the last thing on her mind - there were too many other problems at hand right now. "What are mermaid funerals like?" Asther asked Shannon, who was fishing off the side of the ship.
Shannon didn't really look bothered by the question. She handled it with tact, reeling in the fishing line that caught no quarry. "We all gather at the beach - the island, it has a main beach, I'm sure you've seen it while you were there - and then the Mother makes a speech and then we sing a song for our fallen sisters and return them to the ocean." Her eyes were sad yet meaningful, Asther didn't have to guess that Shannon did this many, many times over throughout her time as a mermaid. "I want to attend too. For - for Corona and Dory." The blue haired mermaid nodded, no longer seeming intimidating like she once did so long ago. "You're a sister now, so please feel welcome." Asther looked down at her feet then. Because there was something else she wanted to say, no matter how hard it was to say it. "I'm sorry for the shells you had to send away because of me." Shannon didn't respond, but she did pat Asther's head and went back to fishing.
An arm was at her shoulder as she was heading back to her room to retrieve some of her dirty clothes to be washed and then dried, someone was there. It was Luis and he was smiling at her, but the grip on her arm was resolute. He wasn't going to let go until he was satisfied. "You didn't forget our deal, did you?" He was almost menacing with that smile and Asther panicked. "I - I didn't! I'm just tricking them, that's all!" Luis was smart enough to make sure no one was here to overhear this exchange, of course. "You kept your end of the deal, so I'll keep mine. I'm going to be your science experiment..." She was lying but it seemed to pacify Luis.
"Just don't forget what we talked about and we'll both be very happy." He said and then left and Asther wondered if she really made the right decision... or if she'd even be allowed to Ogygia.
