So enraptured by the song, Reyna did not notice the figure bubbling up from the surface, at first slowly, then a bit more quickly, until she was right in front of her. Reyna abruptly stopped, a short gasp released from her mouth. "C-Corona," Reyna said, both awe and dumbstruck. How was this possible? Corona let out a short hello, then promptly collapsed. Shannon was the one that had caught her, the other girls all standing around like Reyna was, watching with wide eyes. Reyna whirled around to face Nami, "You knew?" She asked quietly, not confronting because she wasn't mad, but wanting to know. Nami nodded her head, "Mother told me while I was asleep." That was enough to make all the girls not to question, all but Reyna, who wanted to know more. Some were looking out hopefully for Dory, as though they expected the red head to waltz onto the sand and giving her signature cock of the hip.
A small white squiggle transferred from Corona's chest to Nami's, Nami's magic now fully restored. "It was only because she had my magic inside of her that she was able to return," Nami informed them, which meant that no, Dory would not be returning home, her shell would forever remain at the bottom of the lagoon. "It's late, everyone should get some rest!" Shannon's voice rose above the others, Reyna nodded numbly, watching as Corona was taken away by the medic girls who had taken over Reyna's job. "Reyna, why don't we walk?" Nami asked, taking Reyna's hand and gently leading her away. "Is it me, or did these get bigger?" Nami asked, attempting to squeeze Reyna's chest again. Reyna crossed her arms over them protectively, "don't," she said quietly, reminded of Wolfe and his tendency to touch anything that wasn't his.
"It seems that this trip taught you something after all," Nami said in a most mysterious way, leading Reyna into the jungle. Reyna had kept the sweatshirt from her little (or rather large) expedition. "And what's that?" Reyna inquired curiously, wondering how Nami could be so active if she had just awoken. "You're heart," Nami noted, "you're more open. Instead of locking it inside of a steel trap, you've opened up, it's a stark difference between the Reyna you were four months ago." Four months? That's how long Reyna had been gone for? It felt much longer, as though it had been years. "It's probably because I got to experience the world as a child again." Nami raised a brow, no doubt able to see straight through Reyna's mysterious facade.
"It's a shame about Ariel," she said at last, not surprising Reyna in the least. Somehow Reyna had figured that she would have known. "Yeah, I thought that the pool would heal her." Nami was the one looking at Reyna incredulously now. "What do you mean? It did heal her." Reyna froze, "but they said-they said those numbers meant that it hadn't worked." Reyna felt fury bubbling up inside of her. It was no wonder that they hadn't made a grab for Asther, they thought they were getting the better end of the deal, a helpless little girl who wouldn't know how to resist. "No," Nami placed a hand on Reyna's shoulder. "I'm sorry, but you can't go back for her. She's not a real mer-"
"She's part of me!" Reyna fell to the ground on her knees and buried her face in her hands. "She was-she wanted to live normally, I thought I could give her a second chance by bringing her here." Nami gently placed her hand on Reyna's shoulder again, kneeling down beside her in the underbrush. "Reyna, those were thoughts and desires, you don't know what Ariel wants now, she's a separate entity with a conscious of her own." Nami still allowed Reyna to grieve for the child she had never gotten to be.
