Belle tilted her head back, counting the fluorescent lights on the ceiling as she was led down a long, linoleum hallway. She had just come through evaluation, and was now being admitted to a room. It was such a change from the darkness and the dirt that she had found home for so many years. The foam mittens on her hands were apparently there to protect her, but she wasn't sure what she needed protecting from, after all, the lady who evaluated her said this was a safe place. Eventually, she found herself in a room, mostly plain, with a bookshelf in the corner and a decent sized bed.
"We'll give you a moment to get used to your room. Don't be afraid to make any requests." Said the attendant, locking the door behind him as he left.
Belle's large eyes scanned the room, taking inventory. "Good evening, Miss!" Said a hoarse voice from below
Her eyes shot downward at the nightstand, who at the moment was standing next to the bed.
Belle was relieved to have someone to talk to, and she immediately picked up conversation with the inanimate objects in the room, introducing herself to each one. She was quite certain that her stay here wouldn't be as bad as she had thought.

Soon, the door unlatched and the attendant walked in again, carrying a clipboard. "I'm told you shouldn't be needing these anymore, it was just standard protocol." He said, removing her mittens and freeing her sweaty hands. He pointed to a speaker above the door. "That intercom sometimes will sound an alarm. If you hear it, do your best not to panic. Just stay in your room, wait for instruction, and shut up. Otherwise it will only be used for announcements and such." He then gestured to the bookshelf. "It says on your evaluation sheet that you're a fan of books, so we have some basics provided here. If you have any requests for a particular novel, just talk to one of the staff and they'll do their best to fit your needs." Said the attendant in a painfully sarcastic, almost mocking manner. The man proceeded to inform her of what a typical schedule for the day would look like, but she wasn't paying attention anymore. Her focus was drawn to faint talking in the room next to hers. She wondered what making friends would be like. People on television did it all the time. Maybe now she'd get to try it too.

"We're going to send a doctor in to see you in a few minutes. They'll take it from there." Said the attendant, standing up and leaving the room, leaving her alone once more.
