Her own phone buzzed twice in her back pocket. She slipped it out and looked at the short preview before unlocking her phone and reading the full text.

MSG 1: Yeah I heard...I don't like where this is headed.
MSG 2: I'll be getting off work soon, don't you dare give my treat to anyone else!
She found herself smiling softly at the response. June was always happy to try her treats and she liked to bake for him. She typed back a quick response:

I wouldn't dream of robbing my best customer of the chance to try an exclusive treat from Johanna's personal recipes.
She had thought about adding a joke, but a good one didn't come so instead she added a winking emoji to the end and hit send. Once her attention was back in the diner, she noticed Syd making her way to the back, her eyes boring into Johanna as if trying to send a message telepathically. She knew full well what that look meant. Of course, it was then followed with an invitation to join her in the back and Johanna nodded her agreement to follow. She thought about leaving the treat on the counter for June, but she wanted to see the look on his face when he tried it so she took it with her. Axel would let them know when he had arrived.
