God, Alice felt weird. Not necessarily a bad weird by any means, but not right. Not normal. Literally moments ago she felt as if she’d been punted right across the football field by her school’s star player (and that’s saying a lot, that guy had a lot of muscles in a lot of places), but now she felt like all that pain had melted away into bubbling energy she had no idea what do with. She needed to move, to run, to exert all this extra vitality bundled up inside of her.

The appearance of Jasper beside her didn’t surprise her, but Matt’s plea of "Alice I don't know if I can,” quickly made her attention turn back to him. β€œBullshit,” Alice stated, stepping towards him a bit more, trying her damned best for him to make eye contact with her. β€œMatt, you’ve gotten through every little hurdle thrown your way. If you can deal with that, plus all of our crap, what’s a little electro-hands?” She wanted to make light of the situation, but not down play the seriousness of it all that it pissed him off. Because it was serious. None of this was normal, she could admit that. But what she saw unfolding in front of her was heartbreaking. Her best friend was crumpling in front of her, desperate for it to stop. She would do anything so he didn’t have that look on his face.

Turning to glance at Jasper, it sunk in that her suspicious were true. Clearly Matt had powers, but with all that unfolded back there… all of them probably had them. She didn’t want to focus on that right now. One problem at a timeβ€” wait, what does Jasper mean he has something to tell us?

Scrutinizing Jasper’s face, Alice tried her best to get a read on what he was feeling, because there was without a doubt some shred of understanding below his features as to what was going on. She wasn’t pleased he didn’t just blurt it out right then and there, not surprisingly as she was never known as the most patient one of their little group. She waned to know what the hell was going on right now. Why Matt suddenly turned into an x-men character, why Jasper already had powers way before the rest presumably had, and why in the hell she just noticed a soft glowing light surrounding both Matt and Jasper like some heat wave of northern lights.

Jasper’s color was composed largely of yellow and red, not mixing exactly to make orange. Yellow was in abundance, seeping into red as it almost flickered in and out. Now that she looked closer, she could see a little pink too. Matt on the other hand, was an odd mishmash. There was a flickering green (reminding her of the green beacon in The Great Gatsby), a red truer than the one the flared from Jasper. She was sure the most shocking thing would have been the fixed pure white that stemmed from the base of him, if it wasn’t for the muddied gray splotches that spurted throughout like fireworks. She didn’t have a good feeling about the gray. It very much felt like the panic she was sure he had felt.

Well, she wasn’t going to mention anything about it if they weren’t.

Looking away from Jasper, she listened to Matt’s complaints and waited until he calmed down enough. As soon as his powers faded and he relaxed the slightest bit, she noticed the gray splotches dim but still remain. She didn’t want to focus on that, however, and quickly launched herself at her best friend to wrap him in an awkward tangled hug. Releasing herself just as fast, she grabbed both sides of his face a little too hard and stared him down, peering at ever square inch of him she could see. β€œAre you hurt anywhere? Jasper, you have a first aid kit at your house, righ-β€œ Alice’s voice was cut off into a sharp intake of breath as she felt that weird channel thing inside of her again, except this time it wasn’t moving through her, but out of her. Quickly releasing his face, she stared wide eyed at him for for a moment before shooting up straight. Not weird, nope. Totally fine.

Feeling a little less gung-ho and energetic than before, really just feeling tired, Alice turned quickly on her heel and tossed her car keys at Jasper. β€œPick him up and carry him to the car if you have too. I’m going to go have a little chat with our new friends and see if there’s any damage control to be done.” Coughing slightly into her sleeve, she trudged back to the party area.

Shuffling back out of the woods, she was debating the best way to play this all off, but quickly noticed the two girls were moving around presumably doing just that. Was that red headed girl… wait what was she doing? β€˜Jesus Christ, I’m in a nightmare,’ she thought as she wildly looked around for James Franco to pop up. That son of a bitch was always in her nightmares. She half expected Lolly to become him instead of the party goers.

Alas, the too large smiing menace never appeared, and all she saw was reality and the boy Matt had been flirting with lying face down on the ground while his friends did whatever the hell they were doing. Groaning both internally and externally, she moved over to him and knelt beside him. β€œβ€Don’t be dead, don’t be dead, don’t be dead” she spoke hopefully, as she rolled him over so he was fully face up. There was a rise in fall in his chest. Good. Good sign.

He, like the others, also had a wide range of colours surrounding him but those freaking gray splotches were there too, except they seemed to be swallowing him whole. Okay. Not great. Not a good sign. She wasn’t sure how to fix it, but if any indication of what had just happened with Matt could tell her, maybe if she touched him…

Placing a hand gently on his wrist, she closed her eyes and immediately felt that same energy whooshing out of her at a greater speed than it had happened before. Shit, shit shit shitβ€” trying to shut off whatever imaginary channel was working, she tapered it off a bit, but forced a break in contact before it could continue any longer. Slumping over slightly, she once again felt as if she had been hit by a vehicle. It wasn’t a semi-truck like last time, but one of those stupid smart cars. Not as bad, but not as great.

Fumbling with her hand to pick up a stick from the ground, she poked the boy’s side gently in an attempt to stir him awake, she watched the gray start to fade away bit by bit. Getting herself slowly to stand back up, she stumbled a bit feeling woozy, and cringed at the start of a killer migraine.

Taking in a deep breath of air, she looked over at the two girls and commented, β€œWe’re leaving, might be a good idea to do the same,” as she started to shuffle away.

Dang, she needed a nap.
