It was almost ironic, the way things played out. Someone crashing his skateboard. A dog on the loose. The girl, now known as Tallyho, leaving the tree and fleeing only to bump into someone. Angela would liked to have said something, but had been preoccupied looking up hospitals. Surely, that girl needed some sort of medical attention. Angela just wasn't sure who to call for that. It wasn't exactly an emergency. So she followed the rest and stuck nearby to watch.

So many strange happenings. Events that Angela considered to be odd and exciting. And, in everyday life, they would be. However, this all paled in comparison to what happened next.

Looming death blocked the New York sunset.

Angela liked horror movies, especially ones containing monsters. Though, she had always wondered why the characters made such bad decisions when faced with their demise. Run, you idiots! She'd think to herself. But that was back before she herself was faced with unspeakable terror.

To think that just moments before she had been worrying over whether the girl from the tree warranted a call to 911. Now, phone still in hand, she was worried over whether 911 would come if she actually told them what was happening. She didn't make the call. She couldn't. She didn't dare take her eyes off the creature or the man who fought it.

He looked like he came straight from Comic Con, dressed in layers and wielding a sword. His face was frightening, almost as much as the monster he was fighting.

She felt a little bit like a sim whose action was interrupted. Standing still, mind wiped of all thoughts.

She was blank.

It took her a moment, but she began to back away. Why were her legs so heavy suddenly? Where were those precious fight or flight instincts to protect her?

Angela understood horror movie characters far more now. How hard it was to be anything but a stumbling mess when face to face with fear. How dumb decisions are a goddamn miracle since making any decision at all took as much willpower as possible. How the dumb preppy blonde that gets killed off first wishes she was an important character who would survive.

Run, Angela! Idiot! Run!

Finally, just as she was ready and able to sprint, she heard Tallyho speak.

"WHAT." The word tumbled out of her mouth. Was this girl serious? Who could even reach that high?

A thought crossed Angela's mind. One that made her stomach churn.

What if there's no point in running? What if fighting back is all we can do?
