He hears voices in other parts of the apartment, and Hikari easily recognizes Kazuo and Miki. Why Miki is there, he doesn't know- not that it matters. Miki is his friend- a fact which makes Hikari smile to himself. He briefly wonders if eavesdropping would be a crime, but the voices are too low and distant for him to make out what they're saying, so even if it was a crime, he'd bee innocent. Hikari stands quietly and goes about gathering new clothes. He knows he needs to shower, his clothes and hair stick to his skin with sweat, but he doesn't want to interrupt whatever conversation Kazuo and Miki are having outside, so he puts his clean clothes aside and busies himself checking his text messages and emails. He faintly hears the front door open and close, and then Kazuo is inquiring after him. XX
"Hikari-san, have you awoken yet?" He hears Kazuo say through the door. "Yes, I am awake." He replies, standing to open the door for his roommate. He ignores the way the rush of blood to his head makes him have to lean on the wall for a moment. "I am not feeling my best, but not especially terrible either. I am sure I will be fine after a shower and a day of rest." It suddenly occurs to Hikari that he now has to face the events of the night before. He remembers them; he definitely remembers them. He's grateful he never forgot anything in his drunken stupor, he'd hate to have forced Kazuo to explain it. Perhaps he would have pretended it didn't happen at all. XX
Hikari thanks Kazuo for having made him porridge (he smiles at his roommates courteousness; it warms his heart to think that perhaps this could be normal for them) and eats half the bowl before he pauses, looking to Kazuo and back to his bowl. "I would like to offer an apology for what happened last night." He says. "Not because I regret what happened, or because I did not mean any of it, of course. I would like to apologize for not having asked permission first. It was rude of me to kiss you unprompted, and to assume you would be alright with it." He takes another few bites, mulling over his words. He doesn't want to slip up and say the wrong thing. "However, I did not kiss you simply because I was drunk, though it was a great part of why. I am afraid I may have fallen for your kindness, Kazuo-san." XX
Hikari stops speaking then, a small smile on his face, and turns back to his porridge. He finishes what is left without another word. He studies Kazuo's expression from the corner of his eye and can't help but smile wider at how truly contemplative he seems. He says nothing more as he sets the bowl aside and turns to face Kazuo fully. "Please, do not feel pressured to answer now. Take your time." XX
