|| Let the Flames Begin || Paramore ||
Gone. Mizuki was gone. All of this effort, all of her blood sweat and tears for the past two years, for what? It had all been for the sake of her little sister. Even becoming an Idol was at Mizu's request, wasn't it? Her whole life revolved around the little prankster squirt, and yet she couldn't do anything to protect her. Failure, failure, what a failure of a big sister. She wasn't able to protect anyone, wasn't able to do anything right. "Yui, Yui." Aria whimpered weakly, clinging to the fish as if she were a rope and Aria was about to fall off a cliff into a terrifying abyss. "Please don't leave me too." Mizu wasn't the only one taken, however. During the crash, Damian got flung through the windshield into the woods and the broken bits of his still barely alve were body extracted by Enforcers.
Which meant that at the moment, Damian was being put back together in the Roppongi Building.
When Xavier woke up, everyone expected that their previous leader would have some grand plan to spring into action. But he didn't, he just stared at them as if they were aliens and then he held his wrists. There had been some experiments done on him, that's for sure, the Matriarch did something. Why else was his mark so dark? "Maggots." He whimpered, that was the first thing he said. "Why are there maggots in me?" He transported his hand off of his arm so he could examine it and then he began to scratch at the open wound until Leo forced him to put his hand back and then strapped him down. "I don't know what this is, and I don't like it." The young doctor said grimly. "Then let's ask Mayumi." Ally suggested, considering she was the smartest person about light and dark.
When they described Xavier's condition - Xavier who was currently in an induced coma so he wouldn't kill himself trying to remove the maggots - Mayumi looked very grave indeed. "The Darkness Disease." She said quietly. "When the darkness has a strong enough hold over the light bearer, this happens. It feeds on his doubts and insecurities and fears and traumas, making them all stronger. Once it's serious enough, all light bearers feel as if there are maggots in their veins. That's their bodies actively rejecting the light inside of them, they feel it as maggots." That sounded grim indeed. "Is there anything we can do?" Aria sounded hoarse from crying.
"Well, you'd need a Grade A and higher Darkness Filter as well as regular light infusions." Mayumi told them worriedly. "And then lots of intensive therapy after to get to the root of why the darkness took hold so strongly. It's going to be a long and difficult road, but if he doesn't get help, he'll eventually bleed to death from scratching." Death from feeling as if maggots were inside of you. Ari shivered, she didn't want that at all. They needed Xavier at his best if they wanted to save Mizuki and Damian, wherever Damian ended up. Ally couldn't sense his dreams no matter how hard she tried.
One morning some days later, early enough that Yui was awake but Ari was still fast asleep, a voice came through Ping's collar, one only for Yui to hear. "Yui, it's me, Raven. Do you remember me?" The evil genius had a plan that needed to be done. "I know who took Mizuki, and I know how to save her. But it's going to be a secret mission, so I only want your help." She smiled, fidgeting awkwardly. "Can you imagine how happy Ari will be when you show up with Mizu safe and sound at your side? It'll be the best surprise present ever for her birthday." She giggled, sounding just like a school girl. A school girl with a sedative syringe slipped into her sleeve. "I'm hiding just outside, if you can sneak out, come meet me. It'll be a special operation to save Mizuki and Damian!"
